Anger Management Tips? What Do You Do To Calm Down?
I’m a rather… *passionate* person.
Last thing I want is to frequently explode at my wife or kids one day.
Though, I think, at this point, marriage is little more than wishful thinking.

One thing that I’ve learned is breathing exercises. Breath in to 3 hold 3 seconds and breath out to 3. That should get your heart rate slowed down.
Another thing you can try is time outs. If you notice you are getting in one of those moods tell the person you need a break from the conversation because you are afraid that you will do or say something that you will regret. But it has to be for a pre- agreed amount of time. So before you get in a fight you can call a time out if you notice things becoming a problem. The key to all of this though is to practice before hand, you can’t wait for the problem to happen and expect yourself to start your breathing exercise. I hope this helped some.
After many attempts to rip tissues and punch the wall, I finally found my way to calm down!
By forcefully smiling (yes, like the joker) you are able to control your anger. This might sound nuts but give it a try.
Listen to classical music or any of your favorites. I tend to listen to Beethoven and angry German industrial metal when I am mad.
Close your eyes and think “what if?”
What if this? what if that? What if I did this?
Going out for a walk is also a great idea. You can curse all you want while walking but don’t scare your neighbors xD
Write a story, poem, journal, or music.
By expressing your self in artistic way, a day or two you can look back and laugh at it. “Was I really this mad?”
Watching a funny movies helps too. Not any Schindler’s List but something more light and cheerful. I think “Chick Flicks” are useful to pass your time just smiling.
Working out helps too. Through martial arts, I learned to supress my anger. Push ups and sit ups.
Finally, you can just forget about everything and sleep!
Meanwhile, wiki “lucid dream”. That might help you a lot.
When i am angry at someone i usually start crying..and then i go off to sleep..until i forget what was bothering me.
i know its extremely stupid and embarrassing..but that’s the only way i calm down
but its really hard to make me angry.. which means i hardly ever cry.
i know this isn’t helping u..
i walk across about 10 fields to get to 1 field that nobody ever goes to because its too far to walk. then i lie there for a couple of hours listening to my music. other times i just lie on my bed hiding under my duvet and listen to music or write.
