Are There Any Moms Of Multiples That Can Give Me Some Tips On How To Organize And Keep Organized?

2

A friend of mine is expecting a multiple birth (twins). She’s currently 22 weeks, and has been ordered to strict bed rest. This is not her first pregnancy, she has a 5 year old autistic son that attends kindergarten. She’s at a loss as how to get organized for the babies that are coming. She’s implemented some of my suggestions, but she wants more advice. So I thought I would ask on here. Can any moms of multiples help her get better organized?

I am not sure what you mean by organized . . . I stocked up on diapers in a variety of sizes, wipes, bottles, set up the cribs, washed all of the clothes, stocked up on non-perishables such as napkins, paper towels, toilet paper etc . . . filled the freezer with ready made meals etc . . . It is tough to get out to the store with twins – especially when they are really little. I also made sure to set up my support team – had my mom stay with us for the first few weeks. When relatives came to visit, I made sure to tell them what I actually needed – things like, could you throw the laundry in the dryer? Pick up something at the store – things like that. People really do want to help and it is better to be honest than to be “polite” – it is a whole lot less stressful that way!
When the twins arrived, we worked hard to get them on the same schedule. When we fed one, we would immediately feed the other – even if it meant waking him/her. Newborns eat frequently and the last thing you want is for them to be on different schedules – you will be feeding a baby all the time!
My husband also really stepped up – changed diapers, took turns with some of the night feedings, has become a master at grocery shopping – I could not do it without him!
Hope this helps!
