No, people can believe what they want.
I do fight against religion, but it is in the free market of ideas. You can’t rid religious superstition by fighting against it directly. You have to put your beliefs on the table with everybody else’s and letting those beliefs speak for themselves.
I might fight to the death to remove a theocracy, but that’s because it skews that free market of ideas. It forces people to acknowledge a religious belief, and incidently puts authority of what that belief is in the hands of whoever is ruling. When you get your authority from invisible beings, you can pretty much make up whatever laws you want. That’s a form of tyranny I would actively fight against, perhaps even to the death. Though, as Patton said, the goal is not to die for your country, but to make the other guy die for his.
Dying for a cause is much over-rated. Even if you lose, it is better to remain alive so you can fight another day. Organized religion is really a poor cause to die for. But this is not because it isn’t important to fight against religion. Religion is causing increasing harm to society. It’s just that humans have a strong tendency to make up and strongly believe in such false beliefs. If you were to die to get rid of ogranized religion, people somewhere would create another one. It’s a constant battle against our human tendency to create myths, superstitions, and urban legends.

No, but I would dedicate my life to improving human rights so that secular law protected people from religious extremists.
I would die defending people’s freedom of speech, including that of the religious. Including the hateful bile of people like ‘I ain’t know’
I would fight with my life if a government or church tried to take away freedom of speech.
Nothing is a greater defense against genocide.

Yep!!! That’s what I like to see!!! No one gives a crap about anything, except themselves!!! Good job people!!! And you wonder why the older generation looks at ya’ll with disgust, you’ve proven their point.
Your answers are selfish and self-centered!!!
Is there nothing you people would “Give of yourselves”. You say that there is nothing to give your lives for??? But you can sit there at your computer and ask “Hypothetical” questions and ask for no semantics to it.
Tell ya what, YOU have just stepped on the Graves of every single person that gave up, sacrificed, their lives for in this Country. The Freedom of Religion, the Freedom to speak, to discuss, to wonder freely. To vote as well, where do you think these ideas came from???
And then you wonder why people get angry with you???
Intelligence???

Well, I don’t exactly believe in a god nor I reject one.
But no, even if my death was to kill off religion, who’s to say that it just won’t spark up again, let alone call me a God for what I would of done.

JaySee @ 9:39 am #

No because some nutjob/dictator will just make up another one.

Jared @ 3:18 pm #

Honestly, yes. I’d consider it a small sacrifice that would potentially save countless others.

Lukusmca @ 6:20 pm #

I’ve made it my “david and goliath” cause, but I’d hardly give up my physical life for it.
