basic self improvement question?

how do you motivate/discipline yourself to become a better person?…specifically, how do you organize your life so that you dont feel like you are running a rat race from the point that your feet hit the floor in the morning….how do you decide that you are going to stop doing things that are detrimental to your well being, i.e smoking, drinking, being a magnet to the wrong type of mate, being negative…etc….what are some steps that you can take to achieve the goals that you want to set without feeling overwhelmed by what you are trying to do, getting in your own way, and utimately shooting yourself in the foot?

I’m sure I’ll get slammed in our increasingly non-pious world here, but try some religion. Basically everything you just described is what the Bible is intended to do. Good luck!

First of all remember, even if you win the rat race you are still a RAT in the end.Set goals in such a way you can achieve them in honest way. Goal setting should not be beyond your limits. There is no perfection or absolute in anything. The word perfect is only in a relative sense.Selfcontrol is the only way to stop unwanted habits. Have positive approach to all your actions and remember to Live and Let live. Enjoy Nature. There is so much in this world to enjoy even for the poorest person. It is all in themind .

I would say first make a list of all the things that you should quit doing (Ex. Smoking, Drinking…) and make another list of all of the things that you need to get done in a day and in a week (Ex. Grocery shopping, Laundry, Dishes…) and keep a calendar so ya know where you are suppost to be on what days (Ex. Birthday partys…) and keep your stuff organized so you know where everything is at and Always have a little freetime every day!!

Here’s an article that helps with goal setting and achievment. I don’t know if it will help or not, but some to the ideas might help.
