Bipolar And Anger Management Issues?

I have a friend who is bipolar. On top of that, this guy has some serious anger management issues. Is the anger a part of the bipolar condition? Or something separate?

OK, so i have a grandma AND cousin that is bipolar. something that can really help this guy’s anger management would be for him to take his medacines!! that is really important, the medacine can change his whole personality, if he has lots of anger, then he is NOT taking his medacine, remind him how important it is!

I have Bipolar disorder. I really hope that your friend is in therapy and on medication. The anger is part of mania. He may be a rapid cycler like myself where he goes through depression and then mania and then back to depression very quickly. When you are manic you are hyper, edgy, irritable and explosive. If he is in therapy and on meds then he needs to take his medicines every day. If he is then he may need an adjustment in medication or else the medication isn’t working and he may need a different one. Eric I am sure you mean well but I am Bipolar and it isn’t due to toxins in the brains. They can’t be removed by taking something from the health food store. Bipolar is life long. There is no cure for it. I wish there were but there isn’t. I have to be on medication for the rest of my life. Medicine doesn’t cure Bipolar. People may start to feel better and think they don’t need their medication anymore but it isn’t that they are better it is just that the medication is working. The best tools are medication and therapy.

You need to try and catch him in a moment of calmness and ask about his last Dr appointment. Be subtitle. Express your concern…it may be is IS taking meds but on a bad combonation or an effective drug “cocktail”. Offer to go with him if wants to his next appointment and you can share your observations.
I have found I am often the least qualified person to reposrt on my condition.
Anger can likely come from frustration on not seeing sicnificant improvement with his BP…your offer for help may be just what he needs!!

People who are bipolar should be taking their medication regularly. If he’s flying off the handle, he’s likely not taking his medication.
