Can Someone Sometimes Be Happy While Depressed?

3

Just a random question. Can someone sometimes be happy if they have depression. Or is it that if someone has depression they can’t be happy?

Of course.
For example, when you are sad because something bad happened, and someone tells something that is funny and yet totally in the helping and not pushing way, you would be laughing.
Depression is same as the feeling you have at such moment, however its just more worse. Its often rare for a depressed person to laugh, but not less then possible.
Please keep in mind, that depression is different each person, and each person each grade.
Anyways, in short:
yes, a depressed person can be happy.
here is personal experience about it.
A few years ago, I met a girl online. She was clearly depressed, heavely with reason a constant lasting rape and was permitted to watch her parents death. ( she was forced to watch her parents jump in front of a train ).
However, she seemed very happy. So I asked why why she was pretending. Reason was she don’t want to be a pain in de ***.
However, she told me once when having a close conversation she felt happy that she could talk to someone like i was at that moment.
If that was a lie or misunderstood I don’t know, but hey, she said it.
therefore, I think, yes its possible.

You can be happy briefly while you are depressed, but even these good feelings aren’t enough. This in turn sometimes will make a person go back to being depressed or make them more depressed.

I think so. But the underlying problem is still there. It’d probably be the best time for some soul searching instead of waiting for the depression to well up again.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIK5F4zRN…
