Developing a more positive attitude?

4

How is it done? I think I might have self esteem issues which could be the root of it all. I beat myself up about the smallest things. For example, I saw a pile of clothes that I just unpacked yesterday that I need to wash and I thought “that looks disgusting, I should’ve washed those today instead of wasting my time on the computer.” I can’t look at a picture of me without over analyzing it and criticizing my appearance (I’m a guy too which that’s a weird behavior for a guy). I know I’m not ugly, but there’s just a part of me that makes me so nasty to myself about my appearance. I spend way too much time wishing I was famous just so people would notice me. I make things up about myself thinking people will like me more. It’s a bit embarrassing and it’s getting to be too much and I just want to be happy being me. I don’t want to waste any more time hating myself when I know I’m a great person. What can I do to develop more self esteem and/or a positive attitude?

When you figure this question out you should tell the rest of the world , Including women. The only advice would be to not think about it at all. You seem to be making it more difficult than it is, its just life. The hardest parts are the begging and the end. the rest……….

I think Iyanla Vanzant says it best: “It takes a loving heart, a willing mind and a sensitive spirit to get to the core of the self”
Honestly, I can’t tell you anything more than that when it comes to raising your self-esteem, although you definitely know how to stop lowering it. Start from there. Good luck!

Maybe a can do attitude is what you need…I will never understand why a phoney positive one when that is the least thing one feels like when they are dealing with issues is considered a desirable thing to have! So what if you are this and that…be the best this and that you know how to be…like you are the only person that has ever turned a blind eye on some stinkin clothes that needed washing. Last time I checked, doing laundry was a boring activity and if one wasnt naked or wearing uncomfortable grungy clothes…what does it matter? Pick your grumbles wisely …some just arent that important and are major time wasters! You can always invest in some of those seven day underwear invented by the Japanese!
