Do Parents Set Goals For Their Family?
we certainly have goals, though long-term ones are in our heads and not necessarily spelled out specifically.
in the short term, we do set goals for our individual kids. i would like to announce the highly successful meeting of this past months’ goals (having the older two kids get ready for school without reminders in the morning and the younger two occupy the car together in a civilized manner without any bickering). i’m thinking the youngest’s next goal will be to complete his not-entirely-concluded potty training; still have to think of one for the older kids.
after each report card, we talk to each kid about one or two school-related goals for the next semester, as well.
we constantly set goals for ourselves as parents (and in other non-parenting areas) as well.

Hopefully yes. The thing is, over the years, our children teach us a little bit more about their own “individuality” and then us parents we realize, we can only “guide them and protect and shield them” so much. We still maintain as a family “goals” but it’s how we “aim to achieve them” that changes.
i do
and for individual kids ( of course they need to be involved with this
and keep resumes for my kids
balance sport, music, scouts ,and church
in addition to school of course
as a result – I have one on a full college scholarship-
one recently accepted for a partial and we are going for the rest elsewhere
well the baby is only 13 last week but he is making a plan to get his eagle scout by age 15
We don’t. We have expectations and those set the stage for personal goals and expectations w/in themselves. Good behavior, good hygiene/health, good work ethic are all things we support/expect and if those are met, we’re in good shape!
Yes & sometimes unrealistically.
