I believe that most Americans have a positive attitude about working. I have always loved what I do, and I am proud of my accomplishments.

most Americans have a positive attitude about work if the work allows them some control and input into a good outcome. i think the attitude improves in relation to how useful or meaningful people find the work. and when people think they can make a good contribution to a good product i think they are deliriously happy. i think people are negative about work when they feel they are simply viewed as tools or materials begrudgingly required to complete a task. or if they work hard but their work is not recognized or valued.

I think most Americans have a positive attitude about working. I think a few Americans don’t like business that much because it can be short sighted and too political. The best don’t always get promoted. It can be a major downer. I like working and being busy. I like that I’m contributing to society. What’s the alternative? Staying home and being a leach? No thanks.

I think most Americans HAD a very positive attitude about work. BUT with the high gas prices and food prices, a lot of Americans are feeling the crunch of loosing their homes. This would have a tendency to leave a bad taste in your mouth over working. I mean you go to work and work hard all week. When you get payed on Friday you don’t even have enough left over to “let loose” on the weekend. People then turn on their employers for not paying them enough.

hard to gauge this question. there are positive aspects to it, but overall, i would say negative.
the quality of jobs out there are slim and with many vying for the few positions. more and more the jobs are of the temporary kind and come with no benefits. they certainly are not the kind of jobs that one would be able to raise a family on. in a race to the bottom, the employee, has been deemed expendable and to stay competitive employers have to cut some where and that usually means manpower
or benefits. left to fend for himself , some have tried to go into business for them selves, which can prove to be a daunting challenge for the ill equipped.

I’d say most Americans have a good work ethic, and are willing to do whatever they have to in order to get a job done, and to make ends meet.
There are obviously exceptions to this rule, and the system needs to be changed to help those who are really in need, and not give a handout to the lazy.

Work is most often an exploitive enterprise designed to profit someone else more than the worker. Unless one is doing an activity that is totally for his personal benefit and profits him directly, then most work, even though employees have been brainwashed to say “I LOVE MY JOB” are exploitive and demeaning. Without the collective employee power of unions it is even more exploitive.
American workers have in the past been the most productive in the world. They can be again. They just need the incentive to do it. Low pay and corporations selling their jobs overseas is not an incentive.

Most people hate their jobs, that’s not an American exclusive, that’s pretty much a global thing.
I guess that the only people who don’t hate their jobs are pornstars, they get paid to have fun.

I think that would be better answered if we brake it down into age groups….. Generally speaking most would have a positive attitude.

If you are a “proud American” you wouldn’t be asking a question like that.
So now that you’ve proven to be less than proud, what are you really trying to get at?
