Do You Believe, You Should Focus On Self-improvement Or Improvement Of The World Around You?
Both self-improvement and the improvement of the world around you go hand in hand as they are effected by both. It is like a circle. I think that it is best to start out with what you feel is easiest. For me, self-improvment is a never-ending quest and I’m quite content with that. As I walk down this path of enlightenment, I feel that as I’m learning more about myself, I’m improving not only the inside of my being and outside, but also the world around me. My growth spawns more growth around those who I gather with. This, like a wildfire, spreads among the masses until it reaches back to me. A circle.

It kinda depends on how you go about it.
I think selfishness can muddle either thing: I don’t think you should go around trying to change everything so that it fits what YOU want it to be, because you think you can “improve” it. I also think that if you only focus inwardly, trying to fix or perfect only yourself, you can’t make much progress.
I think that the best way is a compromise of the two: you should seek to best serve (not “improve” and definitely not pander to) the world around you. In doing so, there is no way to remain unchanged or unaffected yourself.
self improvement, if we all did that there would be less need to improve the world. before we can improve the world, we need to improve ourselves.
but since we can never be perfect and are always striving for self improvement, perhaps we should try and focus on improving the world cos we could be too focused on self improvement that we never get round to improving the world.
so we need to do both
If you had to choose one – choose making yourself a holy person and in doing so you will be able to help the world around you.
Matthew 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
If one doesn’t improve oneself, they really don’t care about changing the world around them. Once you improve yourself, improving the world will become easier.
When people change, the world is changed
Kindness and love changes people, and since people are the world, kind and loving people make a kinder, more loving world =)
You need to do both because the one is informed by the other. You can’t become a kinder person without interaction with others, you can’t make a better society without better people.
Competition breeds excellence so maybe improvement is a new gladiatorial arena for us to fight in.
But, self improvement IS improvement in the world at large.
It is impossible to change the world with out first changing yourself.
The only thing anyone can really change is themselves.
I think that to improve the world around you, you have to improve yourself first
You should focus on the Will of God. Jesus didn’t do either of your choices.
Why not both? You cannot be a better person until you act like one, and you cannot change the world for the better until you learn self-sacrifice and selflessness.
I think I’ll just sit here and answer stupid Y!A questions.
