Do You Have Any Ideas On Future Goals We Could Set As A Family?

3

Hey Im 15 years old and me and my father got together last night and were having a chat, and I said wouldn’t it be cool if someone in our family won an award of high recognition or starting off as let’s say the first millionaire or something, as I am pretty sure my family has none. And so we were talking about that and he said, for the next while come up with some “goals/achievements”
Though this is very high, I was thinking about being appointed to the Order of Canada, one of Canada’s highest honours. It doesn’t require you to go into a “specific” career or life style either as opposed to becoming the Prime Minister , which in most cases need to know quite a bit of politics.
Do you have any other ideas? The thought about this is quite exciting , yet challenging at the same time. For example let’s say the millionaire ,sort of aspect was accomplished by any descendant , ( if this even goes far…) it would be up to them to decide the next goal
Any ideas out there that we could start?
Its good motivation ( the way I see it) and leads for hope in the future.

It’s a great concept, but goals are more individual, and achievements are the completion of goals in a sense.
For example … I want to be a doctor and I plan to finish medical school by my 25th birthday. This is a great goal, unless you don;t really want to be a doctor. So it does not work for everyone involved .. only those under 25, who want to go to medical school.
A great goal would be that every Saturday night from 7 – 9 you and dad make that your time for a year. If you like playing cards, then it is your card time, if you like board games, then it is for that, if you like to discuss books, etc. you get the idea.
No TV, video game, or things that you can do alone (for example, you can’t play poker against no one).
No matter what happens that time is for you and him (or whoever you include.
The achievement would be that you did it for the full year, never missing.

You could set a goal to be the first in your family to walk upright.

Whatever the goals are that you and dad come up with, make sure that you can list all of the steps you will take to achieve them. Set most of your goals high but attainable without unrealistic expenditures, extreme risks to life and limb and/or the sacrificing of important family values. Start with goals that can be accomplished close to home and branch out from that point. Learn all you can in the process. If you find yourself having fun along the way, you will know that you are on the path to success. Best wishes to you.
