Do You Think People Within Some Organized Religions In This Country Work Hard At Attempting To Hold Women?
back? How are girls who come from certain families ever going to feel good about herself for going out and making it in the world when she comes from a family that pushes their idea of a females role in life should be? How is she suppose to grow up strong, confident, and independent if her family is not backing her due to their religious convictions? Do you think more women can break away from this then women who end up getting held back?

The American Baptist Church preaches that women must follow their husbands’ leads. In the Catholic Church, women cannot serve as priests. The more strict branches of Judaism have some really charming views of women.
Young people have a way of making up their own minds. I have read that a majority of young people who self-identify as Evangelical Christians support gay rights, which gives me hope that intolerance will start to lessen as the older generations pass.
Edit: Jontra, the U.S. has separation of Church and State, which means people can practice their religions as they choose or none at all. If people choose to belong to a restrictive religion, it has nothing to do with the secular governance of the U.S. But it’s easier to whinge than educate yourself, isn’t it?
Some religions do that, yes.
Women coming from these families are often more submissive and afraid of going to work or refuse things they don’t want to do. When a woman (or any other human being, for that matter) is held back, they lose confidence in themselves and grow up to be deeply dissatisfied with their lives.
Women need to break away from every person/organisation/religion which defines what she should be doing and what not.
I only have one question. Have you ever studied one faith for many years to learn it’s ethics, beliefs, and practices. I don’t say this to attack you, but it is important for me to know your understanding and application of religion. Having been in the health care field for 20 years, I interact with physicians all the time. They are one of the most educated and professional groups in America. I have yet to meet a female Md who was not of some faith. In fact, I have met many female physicians of the Islamic Faith. Religion in Western Countries does not hold women back.
It depends.
If they are taught Bullsheet from their childhood, then its not going to be that easy for them. Through education, they can, of course achieve a lot in their life.
I think it depends on how much a person is really ambitious. People can sometimes go to great strengths to achieve something in their life. They can permanently/temporarily(it depends) leave their parents and go on to make a successful career.
I think this phenomenon which you mentioned is really decreasing though….
Religion and woman’s strength are two different and separate issues. Just think of the countless women who attend church on Sunday and go to work the next day.
Even though I am an anti-feminist female in my younger years this is what I used to do.
Religion is what people use to give them hope that there is something beyond life, as we know it.
I don’t know. There’s always going to be those super religious people and they have the right to do what they want. To those people, growing up to be a stay at home mom is strong and confident to them. I don’t agree with it, but they’re not hurting anyone.
i dont think it was their idea
look at the bible — a man gave birth to a woman…the woman screwed it up with the snake..and of course the god is male..and has a son, not a daughter…absolute sexism..written by pigs for pigs
its not the current preachers that bring the sexism into the situation..its been there from the get go
Groups that indoctrinate women in that way are no different from groups that indoctrinate women in the opposite way.
We can say that feminism seeks to hold back women that want to be traditional too.
Tottalllly.. and they call it the land of the free, please…
