Doesn’t It Seem Like Modern Life Is Just An Endless Quest For Self-improvement And Status?
I mean really, what’s the point of all the **** we do? We have what we need to survive without doing much work and yet we do so much on the side just to feel productive and impress other people. It just seems like meaningless bull****. I used to enjoy learning about things like astronomy, technology, discovering new bands– in my own time. but now everything I do just feels like a job. but maybe it’s just me and i need to relax

yep, i know what you’re trying to say. I’m sure there’s more to life, but nothing comes to mind.
My dad said, whenever you feel that way, you should get yourself in touch with nature. You will find the answer :
Yes, you need to chill and enjoy your hobby, whatever it is before it’s too late, it is not 100% sure that you or anyone else are going to wake up tomorrow morning.
Nathan,
You sound young, but you will realize that the purpose in life is to make it better for the next generation. My wife and I worked very hard so that our children would have a better life. My kids will do the same for their children. Enjoy like, that’s what it was meant to be. Life goes by soooo fast. Take it slow, be intrugued with life, be inquisitive, learn, educate yourself. Prepare yourself for a good life. I am sure that your parents hustle for you. Now hustle for yourself. You do need to relax. Life is a gift, a good gift, a chance to make choice, to fail and to get up and win. So be a winner to yourself.
Asi sea…
I feel the same way sometimes too.
Take a breather. Spend a day to just chill out. It does wonders for the mind and the body.
yeah, it’s a self-serving egomaniac pursuit of superficial things such as image and caring about how others’ think of us.some people are a slave for money and social/financial status.it’s mental, really.
sometimes I get sick and tired of it all, too because it gets mundane/tedious and I’d like to get away from all the stress & live on a castaway paradise island:)
We all need coffee breaks!!! Yahoo!Answers is fond of it..LOL!
All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy!
(who’s Jack btw?!)
Yea, its pretty dumb. I wish we lived in huts and taught monkeys how to smoke weed and watch them.
Only if you let it hon. It sounds like you do need to relax a bit, enjoy life more…we all fall into ruts…break out if you’re in one and take some time to experence the joy life can be. If we focus only on our careers or status then life is empty…but if we love ourselves, love others, and focus on important issue and do what we can to help others and our world…then life is an ongoing adventure of excitement. Do something wildly different…seek the spiritual side of your nature…take up a charity to work for…and focus less on self improvement for doing for others automatically will improve all aspects of your life in the important ways. The oceans of our lives are deep…if we only keep to the shallows and not explore the depths we are doing ourselves and others great injustice. Good luck and God bless, Pami xox ^_^
