The House is the House of Representatives, your congressperson. They are the first part of Congress, normally to create a bill, the bill is discussed and voted on in the House, then passed to the Senate, unless referred to Committees if the Senate approves the bill as well, it is sent to the Executive, if he vetos said bill the House has the power to override the veto. The Senate is more of an upper echelon part of Congress, they have the right to judge Impeachments. When the President is impeached the chief Justice shall preside; yet no person shall be convicted withou Concurrence of 2/3 of the Members present. Each body of the House has a court, the House Judiciary, the Senate the Senate Judiciary. The Hose shall chuse their speaker and have sole power of impeachment, the Senate ‘s speaker is the VP. A Declaration of War is approved by congress, the executive cannot declare War on another nation absent a Declaration of War from Congress. This is why the Occupation of Iraq is not a war, the Congress gave the Executive powers to act with force but never a Declaration of War. Rules? Take 4ever. 2/3 of both Houses must concur in order to pass or not pass a bil[law]. Officers: Speaker of the House; Nancy Pelosi. As I mentioned the House chuse its Speaker. When they say Majority or Minority of Congress it references the Party that holds the most seats. In Congress each person has an alotted time to make their case for or against a bill, sometimes 5 minutes, 30 or 1 hour. They aren’t supposed to interrupt each other but at times will yields to one on the other side of the aisle to be courteous[this means dem or repub, other side of the aisle]. Each person in each House serves on other Committees, the Constitution, Armed services, Judiciary, Finance, many. They have 2 sessions per Congressional year, this is the end of the second session of the 110th congress. Operation? Like hours, days, what? They operate, the House of Representatives, now, 4 days a week, they’re off on Fri., Sat., Sun., Senate 5 days. Congress has power to lay and collect taxes, coin money, establish Post Offices, Declare War, raise and support Armies, provide and maintain a Navy, make rules for teh government and REgulation of the land and naval Forces, call forth the Militia to execute Laws of the Union. Representatives are elected every 2 years, Senators every 6 and may stay in Office forever if they keep winning Elections.
