Has Anyone Organized A Talent Or A Variety Show In A University Setting?

2

I am trying to organize a variety show or talent show for my campus organization. The proceeds from the show will be go to designated charity organizations. I am not sure where to begin with organizing such an event. If someone has any advice or useful tools to help with this endeavor that would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Msportyk22,
(u hav a cute avatar)
When I was in college I took part in a talent contest and won a prize. (#1 hula dancer) It was fun and nice for everyone.
1) Keep it simple…so that you can get it done!
2) Secure a location. If a student union building or student lounge could be made available for an hour during the afternoon that would be great . You’ll get more people to come in to a place that’s already familiar to them.
3) Don’t charge admission, but make your money from concessions of popcorn, sodas, and other snacks that you sell, AND…
4) between each contestants performance, be sure to let the audience know that your event is to benefit charity and then pass around a hat (or empty beer pitcher) for donations. (who can resist donating in public when all of your friends are around and watching?)
5) Make it really fun for everyone, so that you can do it again in the future.
6) oh yeah, be sure to give the contest winners some kind of prize… (something donated to your organization of course!)
Good luck
GB u always.
