You already have a movement. It’s called the Democrat party and their “fairness” doctrine. Socialists do not like opposing speech. Therefore, they do what they can to quell the speech.
You want things to return to the old ways? In the old days, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS were not checked. They are now, thanks to FOX news channel. Talk radio is the same way. Why do you think conservative talk radio is so successful? It’s because conservatives talk about truth from an objective point of view. This is why the Democrats want to eliminate talk radio. With the fairness doctrine, they will tell the talk show host what to be fair about. This is an infringement upon freedom of speech.
Democrats know that their propaganda can no longer be filtered through the old media without being checked by FOX. Democrats know that talk radio is successful for conservatives because the country is tire of listening to the same old lies from the Democrats. This is why there are not too many radio talk shows for the liberals. Democrats know that the conservative message is reaching millions of people and they don’t like that. So they have people like you who want to control everything. This is called socialism and communism. Are you a commie? Sounds like you are.

Equal time would be a disaster! It would keep the truth from coming out because someone would keep it from being spoken. I’m more critical of the media then just about anyone else, but they ought to be allowed to say what they think, even if it’s an out an out lie. But we also need to understand that they don’t have a monopoly on information anymore and if they continue to lie to us, we’ll just stop listening to them. Note the declining ratings for the major news networks outside of Fox and the declining readership of major papers like the NY Times. If they continue to operate like it’s still the 60′s then they’ll be out of business sooner rather then later.

Before making such a wild accusation spend some time watching C-SPAN when an important vote is taking place then watch ABC, NBC/MSNBC, CBS, CNN and FOX that evening and you decide who acurately reported the news and who is bias. I never used to believe in media bias until I was sick one day during an important vote and did this by chance. I was absolutely amazed how bias every media outlet was except FOX so I did this again and had the same result. Everyone but FOX took quotes and issues out of context to portray people in a bias manner. FOX is the only one that accurately portrayed what was said with fair clips that represented what actually occurred.
I know I will get negatives for this though all I am asking is for you to watch C-SPAN then the various news organizations yourself and make your own decision. I believe you will be shocked and also realize how bias the majority of stations are and how acurately FOX represents the news.

Easy. Stop the money from being paid to them. The media will pander to whoever wants to pay them the most for advertising etc. Make it illegal for campaigns to place ads on television. They are nonsense anyway. Instead, have a series of telecasts of town hall meetings that can be paid for by public financing. Give the people of the country the chance to ask the candidates the questions they want answers to. Ten town hall meetings over a period of ten weeks before the election. Could do the same thing for the primaries. Then vote. No broadcast or print advertising other than a notice that the town hall meeting will be aired at such and such a time on this date etc. Would cut expenses a lot..and be far more fair and would foster much less anger.
And in all fairness to the print media, give them a copy of the actual questions and answers so they can run that if they wish.
Actual and complete statements from a candidate must be made….not some pundit telling us what he thinks it means.

there was a study done not too long ago about people of like minds. it said (summary) that people of like minds who congregate end up becoming more extreme in their ideals, some even attempting to outdo others which leads to extremism.
as long as there are millions of like minds who watch fox news, i don’t think it’s going anywhere, unless advertisers become disgusted and pull out, but then there are several conservative advertisers

The Fairness Doctrine lets the government determine what is biased and Democrats typically think anyone that disagrees with them is “biased.” Bad Idea.

Fox and CNN are not biased. You want biased? Turn on CBS, MSNBC, ABC, or NBC. Liberal media at its finest.

These privately owned new organizations should be able to say what they want- whether or not it is balances. It’s called freedom of the press.
