Create a chart. Place a sticker in the box when the chore is complete. At the end of each week they get what they have earned. You can do this daily if needed also.
Also create a reward system so they can start earning an allowance. not much about $5 per week. It is also a good method to start teaching them how to save money.
Get a board of some sort, to write on, one with the erasable markers, make a chore list and and the days of the week, and under the chores and days of the week, just mark who’s name the chore belongs to. I have my 7 and 2 year old on a system similar to this, and at the end of the week, I tally up the stars they received for doing the chores.. simple chores of course for the 2 year old, and how ever many stars they have, I reward with money… 50 cents per star. at the end of the month, they get to go shopping for a toy.
Chores for your children is a great idea.
I reccomend some of these for your childen.
Making the bed
Putting away books and toys.
Carrying and sorting laundry.
Assist with feeding pets.
Wiping up spills.
Light dusting (without cleansers or polishes)
Pick out clothes
Empty Wastebasket
Bring in Mail
Pull weeds
Water flowers
Your 9 year old should be able to do all of the above plus:
Mopping the floor.
Vacuuming
Taking out trash
Folding and storing laundry
Washing dishes and/or loading and unloading dishwasher
Cleaning with mild cleansers
Clear table
Walk pet
There are a few ways to make sure your children complete these. I reccomend getting a big jar, with plenty of marbles to fill it up with. Get a whiteboard for the back of each child’s door. Right that days chores on it. Once they complete a chore on the list, they may wipe off the board. If the whiteboard is clean by the end of the day, they get a marble in the jar. Once the jar is filled, then the kids get to decide on something fun to do. Maybe a trip to the zoo, each get to invite some friends to sleepover, pick out a toy, anything! It may take a little jumpstart, but they will get it.
Make a schedule. It worked wonders for me! Plan set days for certain chores and post a list of dailies. Put it somewhere very visible so it can be checked everyday. Trying to wing it and rely on memory as far as what needed to be done was a nightmare for me. A set routine has worked great!
make lists with the times each thing should be done. it might help.
Make a list.
