How Can I Become More Organized And Motivated To Do My Schoolwork?

I’m not even two weeks into school, and I’m already completely disorganized and finishing assignments last minute. How can I get organized and stop procrastinating before it’s too late and my grade start to suffer?

Keep all of your assignments in your student planner so you know when assignments are due. Give yourself 15 minutes to relax from school. Then shut off the tv, radio, and put your cell on silent. Then set a timer for 30 minutes to an hour. Once you can focus on one assignment for the given time period reward yourself with 30 minutes of music, one 30 minute tv show, a quick phone call, or checking your myspace/facebook.

Vanessa had a good idea, I’ll just take it a little further. When you choose your school planner, make sure it has these items. First, a dated area where you can write all of your assignments down as you receive them in class. This is a list for quick notes. Second, either every day after school, or during a break/ study hall, write the assignments in a calendar portion of your planner. Perhaps you can write it in 3-4 days before it is due as a reminder (highlighted yellow) AND on the day it is due (highlighted red/pink). You also will have to sacrifice some freedoms to study every day at the same time (a few hours before/after dinner). This consistnecy will aid you in becoming more organized. As you realize that the work can be done and your grades improve, you will find that this will motivate you to continue and improve. Enjoy!

Each afternoon make a list of all the things you need to do for the next day. Then make a list of other assignments that you should work on if you have extra time. Start with the smallest hw assignments and save the longer ones for last. Also, if you have other things you need to do, (sports related, organizing your backpack or desk etc) for the next day, mix those in in between assignments. As for putting off hw I always started my hw right after dinner because it wasn’t always at the same time every night, but it was every night. I’d also plan ahead if there was a tv show I wanted to watch or schedule in a phone call. Let me know if I can help more, I have lots of secrets for organizing backpacks and rooms too.

First , set a regular time for studying. Allow an hour or two to complete. And, keep at it for school does matter! And, if you are in extra activities, don’t wait until the morning! Set a later hour in the evening!

start study times & think of it as a new challenge for your life.
i was never good with things like that in school.
it didn’t matter to me as long as i made the grade that would get me through. which was like a D.

Do you want a good job or do you want to flip burgers/clean up crap when you finish and never leave home? If your answer is the former, you should be able to motivate and organise yourself.
