First you need to find a system that works for you. The same way of organizing things doesn’t always work for everyone. For example, I know people who can just shove their papers into a notebook or bag and they are fine, and others can’t. ON the flip side, I know people who are super organized with a ton of binders etc. and others who can’t keep track of so many things.
First off, either tape up your notebooks, or get new ones. FOlders and binders are extremely helpful. I would get a binder per class, or one for every two classes. Put EVERY PEPER you get, that means every homework assignment, every test paper, every essay, every handout, every note into that binder. It is so much easier to find things when they are all in the same place. Getting a small three-hole punch (if you use binders) is a good investment. They are only like 1.99 at places like Wal Mart and you can tuck them in your backpack. You are much more likely to keep a binder organized if you can hole punch and put in papers the second you get them.
If a class doesn’t really need a binder, folders are a good alternative. If you use folders, spend the extra 10 cents and buy the plastic coated ones- they will last much more wear and tear for much longer.
Some people find notebooks really helpful. If you are finding your notes to be out of order, get one notebook for class for notes ONLY. You can get another one for hw, etc. but if notes are the only thing you put in that notebook, then they will stay much more organized. Highlight important headings in your notes, even put page numbers on them if you have to. If a page of notes falls out, glue it back in, don’t just shove it into the notebook.
If your bag will not hold all these binders etc. get a homework folder. The key to making this work is that one pocket is not done, one is done. After an assignment is completed, or a handout is not needed for hw, PUT IT IN THE BINDER FOR ITS CLASS. The biggest problem w/ the hw folder system, for me atleast, is i just tend to leave papers in there, and pretty soon the folder is a bursting mess.
Some people find it helpful to color code their supplies: i.e. the same color folder, pen, notebook, binder, book cover, etc. for the same class.
I hope that helped =]
Since you are not good with papers, try some electronic organizational device i.e. palm pilot. I am out of school now, but when I was in school…I liked the Five Star line. Also, it helps if you keep organizational tools on you i.e. hole puncher, etc. That way you wont be like I’ll stuff this in my bag till I get home. You can organize things first by subject, then date. Keep assignments in a “to turn in folder”…this may also help.
Get some binders, one for each class, and put tabs in them and label them. So, then you can tell what papers, assignments, and notebooks go where, and it will be easier to take to classes. And maybe you need to get a bigger bag so more books and papers can fit into it.
Get a big Blinder, a small portable 3 hole punch, and an organizer and keep everything in there.
get binders or folders for each class and label them and put notebook paper. You can combine more than 1 subject in 1 binder. Have a pencil case to keep you pencils, colored pencils, markers, or anything else you might need for school. Have an agenda and write what you did in each class and write the homework. Have a bookbag you can carry with all your books in it.
Get some bling bling to show it to your teachers.

You’ll start getting good grades for nothing.
Try It.
