How can I develop motivation to do my school work?

4

I’m 16 years old finishing up the final semester in my 10th grade year.

I am a really apathetic person and I don’t exactly care much about going to college. I just want to be a music producer when I’m older. But how do I motivate myself to do my school work when I basically don’t care?

youre not gonna be a music producer. just forget about it. just flush it down the toilet. you need to go to college and learn about music. yeah man, high schoolers cant make music. or maybe you need aderol. have your parents get you a prescription. all you wanna do is study when youre on it.

Obviously “fearophobia” took the time to think his answer out…

I had the same problem when I was in your shoes and never figured out the tricks that worked for me until later in life. First thing I’d do is break my work up into mini-assignments because trying to tackle it all at once kicked my butt. If I had 20 geometry questions to do I’d break them up into 4 groups of 5 problems. I’d do 5 then move on to something else. If I had 10 pages of history to read I’d read 3 then move onto another task. I’d hammer this out for about 30 minutes at a time then take a 15-20 minute break where I’d go watch a little TV or play a video game. After my break I’d hammer more work out for another 30 minutes then take my break…continuing on until all my crap was done.

I was unmotivated because I felt overwhelmed and chose not to do my work instead of breaking it up like I learned later. By chunking your work into little bites it’s a heck of a lot easier to deal with. Give it a shot. I could be totally wrong but it’s what worked for me man. :)
