Comments on How Can I Obtain A Positive Attitude?
A negative attitude generally comes from being dissatisfied because life isn’t what you think it “should” be. People don’t act the way they should. Luck (if there is such a thing) doesn’t come to you like it should.
Let go of expecting life to be as you think it should and try to see it for what it can be.
Here’s a little story I like:
– For an experiment, two little boys were placed in different rooms. One was put into a room filled with every toy imaginable. The other was put into a room knee deep in horse manure. The experiment was to see how each would react to their circumstances.
After a time, the researchers checked back in on the boys.
The boy in the toy room was going through the toys and throwing them aside with comments like: “This one isn’t big enough.” “This airplane doesn’t fly far enough.” “This one is just stupid.”
When they looked in on the other little boy, he was madly digging through the manure as if looking for something.
The researchers went inside and asked him what he was doing. He replied, “I’m looking for the pony. With all this horse s#!t, there has to be one somewhere in here.”–
Just decide that you WILL have a positive attitude and then live it.
You will have lot more fun and a lot more friends.
Never criticize anyone behind their backs.
Always find somthing positive in every situation and about every person.
Always help the person who is being maligned or maltreated by your peers.
You can’t OBTAIN one. You have to develop it.
The best place to start is by changing your perception. If you want to see the negative side of things, you’re going to. It’s a lot easier to be negative. Negativity takes no effort.
But when something happens, and you choose to see the positive side of it, you have to work to insure that you continue through the processess necessary to fulfil the positive outcome of certain events.
For instance … it’s easy to say that no matter who is elected President, nothing good will come out of it. And by taking this stance, no matter who is elected, you’ll see the negative aspects of that action.
But by being positive about it, you have to take the time to research who you feel will be the best candidate. You have to work to convince other people to feel the way you do. You have to do whatever you can do to help your positive feelings about your candidate to be validated. But in the end, no matter what the outcome, you’ve discovered your beliefs, and you’ve worked toward them.
Secondly, you have to manage your expectations. If you’re setting your bar too high, then you’re also setting yourself up for failure. You should set goals that achieve personal growth, but not goals that are so high that you cannot succeed. If you do this and fail, then you’re going to start seeing things negatively.
With those two starting points, you should be able to step into a positive direction. Good luck!
You have to make a conscious decision to have one and you have to remind yourself. It’s self taught.
