How Can I Stay Organized For School?
School is starting soon. How can I keep my schedule under control and get everything done. I am a serious dancer and am very busy. Any ideas on how to stay organized, healthy, on a good schedule, and get plenty of sleep? I want to have a great school year.

Make routines and keep them, keep a planner, try to get the same amount of sleep each night, prioritize your activities so you don’t get burned out
get a planer and plan a head
you could get a planner
Couple of options. First and foremost you need to get a scheduler. either something electronic like a PDA (example: Palm Pilot) or a good old-fashioned paper calendar.
First jot down all your regular events like dance classes. Then go through and note all your major events, and all the preparation involved. By continually going through and adding your events, eventually you’ll be able to note when stressful points in your calendar will occur.
You should also keep notes on your contacts in a place other than your cellphone. This would include contacts for dance opportunities, jobs, even teachers.
To get some good sleep, plan for as much as sleep as you can. Shoot for 6-8 hours. Try not to watch too much TV or use the computer right before you go to sleep as they stimulate your brain and body (in a bad way) and can keep you from having a good night’s sleep. All this can be fixed by scheduling.
Getting organized is easy, STAYING ORGANIZED is more difficult for most people. The fact that your thinking about this is a good sign that you’ll be motivated to keep a schedule, but don’t fall complacent, stick to your schedule as best you can.
My last bit of advice is BE FLEXIBLE. Schedules are great, but the unexpected ruins schedules. While you should keep focused on your set tasks, you should also be ready to re-prioritize and re-schedule some things. If you can be focused but flexible, you should have a great year.
PDA!!!!!! I love my palm pilot, I use it for everthing from address book, calculator, calendar, grocery list, to do list, games, etc…..
My trick is to get a calendar and write all my due dates, class times, test dates, etc on it.
THEN don’t plan to party the night before a deadline or test.
Try to have a ‘rough draft’ of assignments complete a week (if possible) before the due date.
If you have a class you do well in, do the work as soon as you can so you have more time for the harder stuff.
