How Can I Stay Very Organized During The Whole School Year?

3

The first week always passes good, but the next one… and the next… and the next, there are a thousand papers in my desk, unorganized, misplaced, my binders are dirty (I just bought them). You should really see my desk and locker. Pus, the teachers never give us any time to place the papers in binders, not before, during, or after school. Any tips will help!
Thank you! By the way, I’m in the 8th grade.

I’m an 8th grade English teacher, and I fully understand where you’re coming from. Staying organized is essential when you’re trying hard to do your best. It’s very easy to let things get away from you, but you’re still very early into the school year, and it’s the perfect time to figure things out.
I would highly recommend buying a planner to keep track of all of your assignments. As for the lose papers, study guides, instruction sheets, etc, you may need to do a little extra work in the morning or at home after school to make sense of everything. If you can’t bring one large binder with you to every class (with seperate folders inside for each class) you may want to get one “master” binder/folder that will hold all of your papers for THAT DAY ONLY. At the end of the day (at home, so you don’t miss your bus) or the next morning you can “file” the contents of the master binder into each appropriate subject. I know that sounds overwhelming already, but in this case it sounds like you really need to get rid of all of the extra garbage that builds up in your locker and in your desk. If you are able to keep seperate folders for each subject this will at least help you to organize for each class.
I’m sorry that your teachers don’t give you enough time to stay organized, but this might at least be a good start. The fact that you’re noticing that the papers are getting out of control and you’re asking for HELP shows that you really care about your academic success. Good for you! I give you an A+ for effort, now get organized and earn your straight A’s for the rest of the year! Good luck.

wake up at 5:30 am or earlier and give your self at least thirty minutes to organize your things in their proper places so that when you leave your room, it is already organized. Why did I suggest so? because I know, you might be busy studying all night and might a little lazy to fix your things..so just leave as it is and wake up early,,so that when you come back in the afternoon from school,it is well fixed and is ready for the next study. Make that a daily habit.Regarding your daily activities, try to make a calendar of activities or time table. After which make a small bulletin board in your room where you can post reminders.
and last thing, have discipline and patience to follow your established daily routine..good luck!

whenever you finish your work or a test early take a few minutes to put everything in order
something i did is kept a folder with all the handouts, work sheets, tests after they’ve been graded and when i had free time put them where they needed to be
