How Can I Stop Never Acting Shy, And Have A Higher Self Esteem?

4

I hate being in places were I know there will be a large crowd. I constantly replay meaningless conversations I’ve had with people for months and months. My self esteem is very low, I see myself as an ugly, fat waste of human life. I get very nervous and scared when someone I don’t really know enters a room. I feel uncomfortable around my family members, school mates, and everyone else. All I know is I really want to change my life.
Thanks

I have seen some of the other answers, and I agree with a lot of what was said. Positive affirmations to yourself is very important. You mentioned that you constantly replay meaningless conversations in your mind. You should watch “The Secret” DVD by Rhonda Byrn’s. and read “As a Man Thinketh” by James Allen. What we think about shapes our lives. It is important to replay what you did well, and then think about what you can do differently to improve, and focus only on those things. Steven R. Covey talked a little bit about that in his book, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.”
The one realization that has helped me more than anything else with my self esteem is to know that I am a Child of God. Now, please finish reading what I have to say. I have known that I am a child of God my whole life, but one day it hit me in a different way. I realized that I am actually one of His sons. What can be better than that. The reason that I used to worry so much about what other people thought about me is because I actually had them higher than me in my mind. I’m not quite sure why I did that. Now I ask myself the following questions
1) What makes me better than anybody else? Answer: Nothing. They all have the potential to become like our Father in Heaven.
2) What makes anybody else better than me? Answer: Nothing. I have the potential to become like our Father in Heaven. We are all equals as to our self-worth. What if somebody else is notably better than me in a certain area? Does that make them better than me? Of course not, because I am most likely better than that person in another area. There actually no way to tell who is better, and it really doesn’t matter. We are all God’s children of equal worth and potential. Only God is our true judge, and in the end, what matters is how I am before God. As long as I am truly striving to be the best that I can be before Him, that is what matters, and that is what I care about.
So with this realization, I decided that I wasn’t going to allow other people ever to decide how good I can be, how strong I can be, how handsome I can be, etc. There is a lot that I can do to affect those things, and they are all my choice. Nobody has the right to determine those things for me.
So I think of how I am before my Father in Heaven and I envision how I would like to become…the way that I would like to be, and I strive for that. I no longer put others above me in my mind, and so I feel confident and comfortable around pretty much anyone. In my mind, we are on the same level. It has been a huge blessing in my life to realize this, and I hope that it can benefit you as well. Another thing that helps me is the fact that I know that I truly want to help people and make their day better. I don’t feel they have a good reason to think bad of me. I don’t feel that this is prideful, just caring enough about myself to strengthen my confidence.
As far as the mirrors goes, it will help to envision yourself as a very beautiful person and then take little steps, consistently each day to get there. You will be amazed at how things can change!

i had the same problem..i overcame it using affirmations, visualizations, mirror technique and other techniques….i am 24now,faced those exact problems u mentioned since 15….u haven’t mentioned ur age….
well,it’s all about changing your subconscious belief system..coz most of us internalize a lot of garbage while growing up from friends, society, news, even from family members…so get rid of that s*** in your head by using the techniques i mentioned..u will start seeing changes…another important thing is to get rid of your negative friends…also, remember no one is going to love and respect you if you don’t love and respect yourself…

Positive thinking is so important in life. Have hope and pray about your life. Know that God can help you live a better life if you want Him to help you. You can have a personal relationship with God by saying the prayer below. God is our Creator, all-knowing, all-powerful, eternal, holy, love. God loves us and sent us His Son, Jesus Christ, so we can go to heaven if we know and follow Him. Forever means without end — time on and on without death. Forever is what happens after we die. Either we go to heaven and be with God forever, or we go to hell which is very bad and painful forever. The good people who are saved believers in Jesus Christ go to heaven. The bad people go to hell. We need to know and follow God in this world to get to heaven in the next world. We follow God by loving and obeying Him and loving others for Him. Jesus Christ, God’s Son, is our bridge to God. Jesus died on the cross to cancel our sins. We need to accept Jesus into our life as our Lord and Savior forever to receive God’s blessing and forgiveness plus go to heaven to be with God forever after we die. This is about being a born-again Christian. Faith in God is a gift from God. You can pray for faith in God. Just speak out and ask God for the faith to believe in Him and to follow Him. Some people find faith in God when they realize the beauty in the world is made by God. Evolution can’t explain the world’s natural beauty, for example, the parks in the world, animals, flowers, peacocks, sunsets, butterflies, rainbows, etc. After you have your faith on, you can pray a sinner’s prayer to be a born-again Christian. This prayer is very important and should be said with a sincere heart and faith in God. This is the prayer: “Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and that Jesus Christ is the sacrifice for our sins. I have done the following sins (state these out) and I pray to discontinue these sins. I pray to receive Jesus Christ into my life as my Lord and Savior forever. In Jesus’ name, amen.” I’m Lutheran and I like the Baptist churches too. You could check out a Christian church and also see about their weekly Bible study group as a good way to learn about God’s will for your life. You can pray to God about your daily life and have a Christian church pray for you.
