How Can One Truly Enjoy Life, Truly Be Happy?

10

I am on a quest trying to learn what it means to enjoy life and be happy. I find it difficult to do so, with all the stresses and realities of real life. Does anyone know how a person can go about starting to try to enjoy life and truly be happy?

Worry about being instead of having. Love. Look at life through Love. Take one moment at a time and don’t pressure yourself. Everything will pass in time.

I believe there are a few things you can do because I have done them and if I can, then anyone can.
1. Happiness is a choice – choose to see life (in general) and your life (in particular) in a positive, optimistic, constructive way. Life is a journey and life is for learning and it’s wonderful that we have so many opportunities / adventures to be able to do that in our lives.
2. Enjoy each day – do things that make you happy every day.
3. Give to others (human, animal, plant, mineral) and this giving in whatever way you chose to give will bring great happiness to you. It just feels good to give.
4. Learn to love and accept yourself – this will also bring happiness when you really believe that you are special and worthy of love and respect.
5. Be thankful and grateful for all the wonderful things that are already in your life (and of course, there are many good things in your life right now and you must acknowledge them).
There you have it – my prescription for happiness – of course, it’s not really mine – I learned about it from others, but I know one thing – it does work, please try it.

I dont have the answer, but I can tell you what Saddartha Guatama did. He was a rich man who was born into a family of wealth. His father locked him away in his giant mansion so that he would not be influenced by outside pressures. When Saddartha became a man he decided to leave the mansion against his fathers wishes. On his first day he went out a door facing east and ran into an old man who was about to die. This was the first time he had ever seen death and he was horrified. The next day he went out the door to the south and saw a pregnant woman in labor. The pain she was going through shocked him. The third day he went to the west and ran across a starving child. On the fourth day he went North and while he was out he saw an old man with a bowl for begging. The old man radiated happiness and content. He had nothing, yet he was happier than anyone Suddartha had ever seen. So, Suddartha then found out four noble truths. Life is pain, Life is suffering, suffering and pain are caused by want, give up wanting and stop suffering.

Well, I must be one of the most stress free people I know. I don’t cope well with stress so I avoid it at all means. Its simple I guess, I work p/t at a veterinarian clinic while its closed for the night. All I deal with is animals, and it can be a very stressful job for some, I take it in stride…I know many of the animals there are already stressed, so I practice patience, I try to comfort them and help them recover. I also board other peoples horses on my property and for most days is quite stress relieving, hearing the horses neighing as I enter the barn..excited for me or the grain breakfast..both, because I supply the breakfast.
I also surround my self with my loving family and friends, and while we may have our differences we always agree on our comradery to help each other when times are tough.
and… “If ya don’t like my fire then don’t come around, cuz I’m gunna burn one down”-B.H.
If ya don’t like your life…if your all stressed out, then change! do something different! move on & get up! because you don’t want to wake up in 30 yrs regretting chances you didn’t take.

do what makes you feel alive..live for the moment. i live 1 day at a time just waiting for the day i can stop waking up….and when it comes i will never know. but as sure as i am alive now i will have a smile on my face when i go. with not one regret. as i have no current regrets i am free to go anytime. when ever that may be. yeah, regret nothing and live in the moment as it may be the last one you are going to have

in this world we will always have stresses and problems… its just the facts, but how you deal with those stresses is the sitiation,
if its just temporary set backs, then everyone should enjoy life and be happy…. because in reality thats the only way to get through the day…

Do not attach it to things/people outside of yourself. I mean you should do good but do not get attach to anything. You are the master of your being and you have the choice to be happy.

Follow your passions. Don’t work to hard, but don’t lose purpose to your life. People in all walks of life have found happiness before. Do what makes you happy; do what makes other happy.

Stop regretting things. Start doing things without a care.
Appreciate everyday as if it your life.
