How do I find my “real self”?

5

People always say the most important thing about self improvement is to be yourself no matter what. But the problem is I don’t like who I really am. I put on an image of a nice happy go lucky person and I portray a certain level of confidence but when I’m talking to people I feel like I’m being so fake to the point where I want to throw up. Because I’ve got some issues that nobody can see and I’m an emotional wreck. I only feel really comfortable when I’m being grumpy and mean and carry an attitude. When I tell some one to fuck off is when I feel the most joy. I feel like the real me wants to kill everybody but I have to put on this fake personality around people I hate looking at myself in the mirror because I’m ugly on the inside. It’s hard to be honest when you don’t respect yourself. I just don’t know what to do anymore Its like im in movie and I have a split personality sorta like fightclub

No wonder you piece of poo men’s rights activists (as I told the FBI, and they agreed, considering the mountain of evidence I handed over) with your cover for organized pedophilia want to keep Feminists arguing with you. It’s just a distraction because you know we have superior intellects and can find out your dirty secrets when we look.

Such as;

Xavier Von Erck, head of Perverted Justice, has a child porn conviction
Xavier’s buddy Del Harvey is part of a scam about a certain “missing” Randa Jawhari
Gang stalking is nothing but a bunch of sadistic pedophiles in action
Over 100 screen names from here have been connected to child porn, and the FBI has found the real names
Many non-profits are also fronts for organized pedophilia, and harbor murderers, like the two I turned in yesterday
YAMP in Canada has 6 men who are connected to child porn

And on and on and on.

I would talk to some kind of counselor. It sounds like you have a lot of built up anger in you. A guy I look up too once said, “Don’t be quick to anger” This is harder said than done, but if you 1, have a love for God, and 2, show him love by loving others, you will in return be happy yourself. I was once like you, working in a public place, and full of that hidden anger. Once I turned to the big guy, I really have found some happiness in my life. Now day’s there are a lot of people that are “anit’christ” type of people, in fact some will bash on this post, but it doesn’t mean that I am wrong. And you have nothing to loose, and much to gain by trying.

I hope you find happiness in your life. To me happiness comes from what I said above, and by charity to others, even if you don’t necessarly like them.

Beautiful you are. When we project things that is how we feel about ourself. So, you want to kill yourself/you dislike yourself. It is totally normal do not worry, many poepl including myself have one time disliked our own human being. That may be a shock to you, if not that is good. Although a part of you wants to stay alive, I know this because you are seeking help by asking this question. That wanting to help is love in your heart. That my friend is the real Self, capital S. The real self is the connection that all people, trees, particles, bears, monkeys, rocks, dirt, lettuce have in common. It is the deepest connection. We are all one on this Earth and in this universe. There are two energies Love and Fear. All other energies stem from these, like joy, happiness, contentment, jealousy, greed, and so forth. The ego lives in fear and your Self lives in love. Fight Club is a very good movie, I like it. Try to watch these videos though- Go to youtube and search Ajahn Brahm and watch his lessons or talks. It will help you find your Self. Because everything else in this material world is a product of the mind and is just an illusion.

See a qualified psychologist who can administer the Meyer-Briggs Personality test, which covers eight possible traits that can be combined into a half-dozen or so distinct personality types.

Your aggressive/hostile attitude is a mask for your lack of self confidence.

I don’t know if you’ve been the target of abuse, but often one who is abused becomes abusive.

By the way, there’s no such thing as a split personality; there’s a fugue state, and a schizoid affect, and there’s also DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) a.k.a. Multiple Personality Disorder. But in all of these the one affected is NOT aware of the dissociation.

In other words, if you feel like you have a split personality, you don’t.

What your “real self” actually is, has been debated by intellectuals for some time now.

It really comes down to the argument between “fee will” and “determinism” that doesn’t really have a universally true answer. What your “real self” is, depends on how much you think you control what you are vs. how much you think your environment and biology controls what you are. Since you are the only person who ever experiences your real self, your understanding of the world (what philosophers call epistemology) is the only thing that determines whether your “real self” is what you deem that it is, or if it’s an amalgamation of qualities that have their origins in the ways the world effects your mind and body (or any combination of these two ideas.) The reality of the situation is that you’re the only person who experiences your self so, through introspection. Personally, I feel like the healthiest and most success attracting attitude is the more existencial one, that suggests you and you alone determine what your real self is. Jean Paul Sartre, who was probably the most famous Philosopher of the last century probably phrased this idea best when he wrote “We mean that man first of all exists, encounters himself, surges up in the world – and defines himself afterwards.”

Also, consider that some philosophers (i.e. Nietzsche) have added to the discussion that the “self” is an illusion and might not exist at all!
