How Do I Get Motivation To Exercise More And Eat Less?

14

I want to hopefully lose 10 pounds by the end of this summer, but I can’t seem to get the motivation to consume fewer calories and exercise more. I want to hear everyone’s “success stories” and tips.

Theres really no way to get motivated, you just have to do it and make it part of your routine everyday like brushing your teeth. You will reject wanting to do it but after you start losing weight and having more energy youll become addicted to it. My story is this:When i was 18 i joined the airforce and i was pretty out of shape. When i hit bootcamp i had to sweat and push myself every morning at around 5am. I hated it and my body hated it too.. But after the 6 weeks of training i felt stronger and more alive than i ever felt!! Once i was stationed at my first base, whcih was in germany, i met a friend there who got me into weightlifting(and beer drinking..LOL).. But after that i was pretty much hooked and still am at 35 years old!!

I think you’ve got to come up with the motivation yourself.
Just think of the reasons WHY you want to lose those 10 lbs. and focus on making the goal. Remember to stay positive and try to keep it in mind every time you make a decision about what you’re eating and whether you feel like exercising that day or not. Just try to make the right decision each time you’re faced with one. It also helps with the exercise if you can get into a set routine. Then, you can force yourself to stick to it.
Good luck!

One big key is to put yourself around people who are also living a healthy lifestyle. Its so much easier if you have a peer group. I also think subscribing to a fitness magazine will help. This keeps reminders around you all the time and the content is motivating. Seeing pictures of healthy people and realizing that I want to strive to be that healthy is strong motivation.
Its all about environments and temptations.
1) Only keep healthy foods in your house.
2) Keep magazines, pictures, mirrors in sight and use that as motivation.
3) Put yourself around others who share this lifestyle or encourage those around you to join in.
4) Strive not just to be better but to be the best. Set lofty goals and work toward them over time. Results that come too quickly rarely last. Slow and steady!

The start of this summer I decided to slim down. What I’ve been doing is just a lot of running and healthier eating habits. I’ve lost 15-20 lbs so far. And one way I try and limit my calorie intake is to keep a log of the food I eat. This is so I know where I need to fix things and to make sure I don’t eat to much. I eat about 5 times a day, but only in portions of about 200-300 calories every 3hrs. My daily foods consisted of egg whites and oatmeal for breakfast. I had fruits through out the day. Lunch I usually have like little sandwich on whole wheat bread. For dinner, Chicken breast and veges.
But with all this, motivation is important. With out it, it is extremely hard. I’ve tried things from look up fat people on the internet and saying, “I can’t be like that” or trying to impress some one of the opposite sex. You have to find something that keeps you going. My biggest motivation was the start of school in the fall. I want to impress everyone when I get back and I always have wanted a great body. I also watched Super Size Me and this help me resist some foods. Just tell your self you don’t need it and ask your self, “Am I eating cause I’m hungry? or am I just bored?” Get away from food if your eating for any reason other than being hungry. Go shopping or take a walk, a drive, what ever it is, just away from food temptations and try and find something to keep you occupied.
Good Luck!

hypnosis works for a lot of people. Often people have some unconscious issues/beliefs that can hinder their ability to lose weight.
Remember your goal and keep your focus on the desired outcome.
For exercise, try working out while watching your favorite show.
For eating, just leave a little bit of food on your plate at every meal.

i used to weight 75kg and now i am done to 58kg. My weight loss was from extreme (not recommended) to gradual (the best way).
When I tried to lose the weight through extrreme measures, I lost them only to gain it back because I could not sustain the extreme measures I had taken.
Do it gradually, eat small meals about 4-5 times daily. Eat healthily.
Exercise.3-4 times a week.

i go running a lot and listen to music and that helps me when i want to quit. also, if you’re thinking about eating something ask yourself “am i really hungry? or am i just eating because it’s in front of me?” just think about how good you’ll feel when you achieve your goal :D

missems7 @ 10:52 pm #

I like to watch up beat music videos. The music gets me to want to move and usually there are models in those videos dressed skimpy and it makes me motivated to look like them. Got me motivated enough to were I lost weight and now I model. Try Benny Benassi music videos on you tube

Think about how great your body/muscles will look once you’re in shape.
