How Do I Stick To A Goal? Over Two Years I’ve Set Goals For Myself Almost Everyday And I Dont Stick To Them. ?
Its getting scary not being able to trust myself. Whether it be losing weight, becoming healthy, drinking less alcohol or even just staying organized, i cant stick to it. Does anyone have this problem? I mean seriously every single day ill write out exactly what i want to do and I wont stick to it or ill write out a plan for everything and I WONT stick to it. Iv tried not writing it down and just “doing” it and still I dont know what happens. Its like I dont realize how important the goal is once I get to that important part.THe next day I wake up I feel like HELL and the cycle starts over.Iv gained about 60 pounds over the past couple of years, i drink alcohol at least four nights a week and i eat unhealthy foods constantly. I need HELP sticking to a goal. I dont want to seek help, i want to do this myself. I know I can, iv done it before but i just need to find that one thing that pushes me. I dont want to wait until I end up in the hospital from some serious health problem. I want to wake up everyday and be happy its a new day. Instead I wake up every day waiting for the next.

Well you have all the answers – you know exactly why you are picking up weight and you set goals to reduce the weight but don’t stick to the goals.
It would appear that motivation and discipline are the missing ingredients for success.
To lose weight is to change your lifestyle – get a friend to start exercising with you – when you make a commitment to somebody else then you should feel compelled to to honour that commitment.
With the exercise you will start losing weight and this should motivate you to start changing your diet to a low fat and health diet.
Once this process is in place set goals that are both realistic and attainable.
Good luck
Look at it this way. If you continue eating unhealthy, you WILL become unhealthy. That’s obvious. I have the same problem that you’re describing. I’ve started to keep an agenda. Every day, I don’t write “lose weight”, I write..well, it’s hard to explain, so I’ll just show you my agenda:
Monday: 5:00 p.m- Paint far bedroom wall, sweep floor, clean off porch
6:30- smoke a cigarette and take a break
6:45-Walk down the driveway (my driveway is a mile long) and get the mail.
7:30-take a shower
Tuesday: RETURN LIBRARY BOOKS!
See? You haveto be really specific to want to change things. Reward yourself at the end of the week. Start writing down a diet agenda as well. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. DO NOT eat past 7:00pm. Don’t eat little snacks here and there. Breakfast is the most important part of the day; remember that.
I’d advise getting a hobby that takes attention off of food. For instance, pick up a hobby like photography. Go walking in your local park and take pictures. Or, adopt a highway. It’s beginning to get cooler outside, and it wouldn’t be so hot you can’t stand it. All of these are really cheap ways to get out of the house.
As for setting goals and reaching them. Once you begin to set goals and actually reach them, you’ll be so proud of yourself. Set little, short term goals at first. Like, “lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks”. With that though, write a seperate goal of exactly how you’re going to do this. Like, “Breakfast- walk a mile, eat a bowl of granola cereal” Like that. HAVE WILLPOWER! You can do it, hunny!
Hope this helps. If you need any help, contact me and I can help you further!
