How do you regain a positive attitude when caring (as a profession) for the sick?
I work in a nursing home and often times we are short staffed and overwhlemed. On top of all the residents’ needs, we have management on our butt the whole shift worrying about petty things that really doesn’t even have to do with us. So while we are catering to the management, our residents become irratible and cranky and then that burns us (the staff) out to the point where we are angry the whole shift and could care less about our job anymore. IT SUCKS! How can I get back the the place where I look forward to coming into work and look forward to spending time with my residents (26 of them for 2 aides!) without letting all the other stuff get to me??? Help!

You might want to organize some girl scouts or some people to sing to them. I did that when i was younger, and they loved it! That might distract them long enough so you can get your work finished.
it is sad poeples don,t realize ….i salute to your thankless service
There is little you can do to change the situation among your coworkers. Dissension will always be part of this environment. But you can choose not to wear it!
Just keep a smile across your face, carry a tune in your heart, and give your best to those who are so thankful for your positive spirit. The tune you hum from your heart as you work, will help to drown out all the negative hovering there. Maybe the patients will even sing along.
Be the “positive force” in a negative situation and be amazed with what you can accomplish!
When in doubt, ask in God. He is right there, right by your side, all the way…
