How important is height for a female in a management career?
I am a petite, 5’3 100 pd. female. I’ve read articles that height is important if you are in high level management positions because people take you more seriously. I am considering entering a career in marketing, public relations, sales or business management. Am I going to have a hard time getting respect and authority if I am short and petite? Is height more important for men in management positions? As long as I’m intelligent and assertive, should my height matter? Can short, petite women still be successful in these types of careers?

It’s very important.
If you’re managing an all-female team of coconut pickers.
Other than that, I’m pretty sure that it’s not a qualification in most other jobs.
Yes, if you have the right amount of motivation and perseverance. Just don’t get a stereotypical boss.
Well, my mum is short and she is a boss (She is around 5ft 3) however quite a few of her staff are shorter asian women. But there are some taller members of staff too. The most important thing is that you are assertive and can voice your authority well
People can be incredibly judgemental and make all these false assumptions about someone based on their physical appearance.
So will you have a harder time than a tall woman, all other things being equal? The ridiculous answer is: probably yes. But the key is:
all other things being equal. They never are. There are too many other variables. If you are intelligent and assertive, those traits will factor more heavily than just your height.
You better believe they can be successful.
