It ‘s best to do it in 5 pounds increments and give yourself a non-food reward for each goal, such as a manicure or a relaxing day doing a home spa where you pamper yourself. Perhaps a piece of clothing you want to fit into as your final goal. :)
20-30 pounds in one year is very doable. And when you mess up (we all do), just get back on plan. :)
Think of this as a lifestyle change, not a “diet.”

Your weight lost goal should be 2.5- 3.5 pounds a month.
That way you could easily lose your weight and keep it off for good! And you won’t have to change your diet or lifestyle that much.
Take everything in small steps, and help your body to adjust.
Moreover, 2.5 – 3.5 pounds a month in a year, you could lose about 30 – 40 pounds.

I always use to say “my goal is to lose 40 pounds” id work out for like 2 days and give up sying its impossible.
for the first time, i said, okay. my goal is to lose 2 pounds each week. and guess what? i’ve lost 9.8 pounds in LESS than 2 weeks. lol
so my advice would be make several small goals, like the 2 pounds per week, and not 5 pounds 8 times or 40 pounds this year. the numbers make you worry and worry from being so high, but yet if you set a small goal, your more likely to achieve it and feel better about yourself

Set your goals realistically. If you are not going to work hard and stick to it do not say I am going to lose 30-40 lbs. Setting a goal at 10 lbs and once you reach that continue striving to lose is an excellent goal. Sometimes it take a year to lose because it takes time for your body to become adjusted to the workout. Once your body become in tuned to what’s happening you will start to lose more.

Set your goals in 10lb increment’s with a reward. Each time you loose 10lb’s treat yourself to something fun, or usefull. (new work out outfit, new sneakers, or mani-pedi.) Try going to fitday.com and use their weight loss goal calculator. You type in a goal date ( ex loose 40lbs by june 1), your weight now, and the weight you want to be and it tells you how many lbs you need to loose a week to meet your goal. For example, you might be surprised that you may only have to loose 2lbs a week for maybe 4-5 months to reach your goal. It makes it seem easier.

month 2; 7-10
month 3-6: 3-7
if you slack, remeber your body is pooped out from trying to loose weight. the last 2 monthes make it
