How To Get Back Motivation Down The Gym?
Ok this is for my friend. He is lacking motivation down the gym lately and barely does a decent workout, I went through the same stage but not back to loving it.
Any ideas on how to get his motivation back?

Taking a break for a week or two may be a good idea. Maybe he is over tired? Or if his training has reached a plateu maybe he needs to either improve/increase his diet a little, or freshen up his routine.
What I find sometimes helps me is on a training day, I’ll sneak onto the internet during work for a bit, and read a few bodybuilding articles to put me into the mood. Also the pics of the pros helps motivates me to go, it gives me something to aim for. And, it gives me a few ideas of different workout routines, or to improve on technique slightly, and over time I can set myself slightly different goals, or focus on something different for a while. Doing the same thing week in week out is bound to get boring eventually.
Hope this helps.
Ive just joined the gym. It hard to get motivation when you just want to go home after a s**t day at work or youre tired. What keeps me going at the mo is the events i have coming up. Think christmas and all the parties and work dos. Feels ages away yet its only about 15 weeks. Ive also got a christening and not wanting to be the biggest girl at the birmingham bike show this year.
Remind him he doesnt have to be down there everyday. You need a day between muscle work anyway otherwise you risk damaging the muslces youre trying to improve. Plus, if he’s single, there could be some pretty hot girls down there. xx
make sure you ‘buddy’ him so he has someone to work out with.
Talk to him about what his goals are, and if he believes they are possible. If he doesnt… kind of obvious really..!
Try to work out a routine for him, so he can work on building himself up to spent more time at a cardio level or work on more reps for example.
Cardio or heart rasing workouts will boost the feel-good chemical seratonine in your brain, so make sure he gets his heart rate upto atleast 50 or 60% for a good solid 20 mins to really feel this.
Get a fitness instructor to take stats every 2 months, he may feel he is not improving but in reality he is.
Book a holiday for christmas with him- somewhere hot and sunny. He will soon shift into gear to look good!
Its ‘same old scene’ syndrome
1. Take a break – 2 weeks
2.Go swimming or take an aerobics class for a few weeks instead
3. take a massage after or instead
4. Go at a different time, you’ll see new faces, its social as well.
5. If you can afford it take on a personal trainer to work with you on a specific targeted routine that is not your normal eg more stretching, running, cross training
6. Why stay indoors, join a running group outside.
A change is as good as a rest.
play good tunes the old classic crazy in love is great to run to. other weird music to play gets you moving too. tell him you will bring him for a beer when hes done.
Tell him to go to the classes like kick fit, yoga, body pump, etc…..they’ll motivate him
