Comments on How To Make Myself Happy, I Really Want To Recover From Depression.?
I study anti-depressant medications at a large mid-western university.
Long-term or recurrent episodes of depression (by DSM-IV) often indicate an imbalance of a chemical in the brain called dopamine. To treat depression, therapies aim to boost dopamine, which should effectively raise mood.
It seems as though SOME doctors are simply prescribing medication without any regard for the supplemental behavioral interventions necessary for success. Depression can not easily be cured without good sleep– you need 7-8 hours EXACTLY– (some medications interfere- i know buproprion usually doesn’t), good exercise (very essential for mental health), and a reasonable diet.
Individual differences in medication responses create a situation where the doctor should be getting lots of feedback (perhaps over the phone or through a nurse) about how it is going. The dose might need to be tweaked to ascertain the best dose/response effect- more is not always better. Often physicians will switch to another medicine if another is not optimally effective.
Sunlight or light exposure to the eyes is known to modestly boost affect in the low-light winter months.
Finally, I would recommend either a book or some reliable internet research on how to think positively. This is a skill that only comes with practice.
Best,
_Matt
The first and very basic thing that you need to do is to find someone who is willing to listen to your problem and talk to you. The next thing is that you got to help yourself. No matter how much medicine the doctor give you, you must got the will power to overcome it yourself too.
Sometimes it is good that you can actually mixed around with your friends to relax your mind. Try not to think of the unhappiness on the past. Take a step at a time and hope that you can gradually recover
hi
you may need to see your doctor as 2 years is quite a while to be feeling this way and you may need some medication to help you get back to feeling happy again
some things you can do for yourself is make sure you get some exercise in the fresh air as this helps
but the most important thing is to talk to someone about it…it takes a strong person to seek the help they need
know that you are not alone in this as many people suffer from depression
although its hard make an appointment with your doctor and discuss it with them
best of luck!

It also wouldn’t hurt to get prescribed medications for your condition. You can even get st. John’s wort without a prescription. Its just as effective but takes longer to work.
well it wouldn’t hurt to see a psychologist. talk to them about your past and all of the painful things you have been through. gettting out all of the stuff you have been holding in for years really helps. and if they think you need a medication they’ll send you to a psychiatrist and there are tons of good medicaitons for depression too that could help you. life is hard enough when we’re happy. so it seems impossible when we’re depressed. so i would see a psychologist to start.
I too suffered from depression, but after taking medication for a chemical imbalance I’ve be able to move on in life.…… in the past
It could be you are predisposed to being depressed, due to a family history of depression. Science has proved these things are linked. The best thing to do is be proactive about your depression. A good diet full of vitamins and veggies will help to eliminate any Iron deficiency that can cause constant fatigue. A lack of energy or not being able to concentrate for long periods of time. Exercise is also essential to your well being.Exercise gives you ENDORPHINS. And ENDORPHINS make you happy. Once you feel like you have more energy, you can start planning things with friends. Not the “everybody has them” type. But true friends who know you well and can share some quality and sound advice. Finally, sit down and make a list with two columns. This i like, and things i don’t. Start rating the normal everyday things you do. IF the good out weights the bad
then keep at it.If the bad out weights the good, then find some new things to add. You will begin to get a better sense of yourself and who you are. Work towards liking you and making you what you want to be. I know i hate to hear people who just use quotes. So these way will know what to try. I come from a fam w this history and I’ve successfully dealt with and overcome my depression. Good luck!
