I Have Anger Management Problems, Any Suggestions?

I just blew it with another girl, actually two TODAY. I blew up at two of them, I called one a ***** on Facebook and I blew up at another one at work. Whether or not they deserved it is debatable, but I tend to blow up a lot. I guess I have a type-A personality…

Think…. think before you act and if you question what you are doing wait 10 minutes before doing it

Anger has to be let out, no two ways about it.
Apparently, your anger is not being let out in other areas, and it just so happens that two girls received the brunt of that.
Anger is anger, but it doesn’t have to stay as anger. Anger can transform into energy when you punch a punching bag. This will reduce your anger level. When you blow up a building in a computer game, that may reduce your anger level. When you have sex, it may reduce your anger level. When you get a compliment, when you drink coffee, when you take a shower, when you get a massage…it may reduce your anger.
The key is understanding what reduces your anger level. Figure that out, use those “trump cards” effectively throughout your day/week to reduce your anger, and repeat.
In your situation, if we could change it, you could have held in your anger, and then released it elsewhere. Likewise, you could have reduced your anger before the incident and not even have increased your anger when you were involved with the 2 girls.
One technique that works for me sometimes (I am not perfect by any means, I blow up at my wife once a month, what am I, PMSing??…) is when I feel the anger coming, I “look” at the anger and I think “Oh, there’s anger coming down the street.” And you know what? Anger ceases to be anger when I imagine it’s some stupid blob or “thing” coming down the street. I just let it walk by…and I feel more calm.
Good luck!

It has to be deep seated problems in you that you wont let go…try forgiving someone who has done you wrong…and then get back here and tell us what happened next week…..

If you can’t deal with it by using one of the techniques, such as counting backwards from 20, to 1, (and prevent yourself from making yourself angry, in the first place) is important to express that anger appropriately, at the time, and to the person who caused it, if possible, or immediately afterwards. If not, maybe by walking away later, and bellowing your rage. In some situations, such as work, or school, it might be better to cover your mouth with a cupped hand, bandanna/handkerchief, or use the crook of your elbow, to muffle the sound. Some people find that it helps to journal those thoughts, and emotions soon afterwards. Anger, which is repressed, rather than healthily expressed, tends to fester, and later may cause explosive fits of rage, or depression. It helps to have someone you can talk to. For more physically inclined people, a punching bag, or hitting your pillow, can be an effective release mechanism: visualise, as vividly as you can, that you are striking back at the cause of that anger. “But next time, when you get mad, just remember this quote: ‘Those who anger you, conquer you.’ It’s basically saying that when you give someone the power to make you mad, or let it get to you, it’s like they’re controlling you. When I realized that, it made me mad, so I try to control my anger and not let people see it. You can still control your anger without being walked all over. You just have to draw a line.” Anger management is addressed in much more detail than can be included here, in section 4, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris including multiple weblinks.

getting on medication would help. Deep down u r depressed. I have gone thru the same thing. Talk to your doctor about this

ilfoxtro @ 10:58 pm #

That was not in good form. You need to learn to control yourself. Type A personality be damned. Try to act like an adult, or at least like a decent human being. Calling someone a ***** just makes you look bad.
