I Have Horrible Add. How Do I Keep My Apartment Organized?

4

My ADD is so bad that I can barely concentrate on writing this question. I could use some tips from people with ADD who have managed to figure out how to organize (and keep organized) their apartments, or other small spaces.
I’m okay but not great with other organization in life (work things, etc.) But my apartment is mostly boxes because I can’t just sit down and unpack.
Please, don’t leave a lame answer like “idk lol” I don’t need to know you’re an idiot.

Do you have a friend who can come over (who doesn’t have ADD) and help you unpack all those boxes, decorate, and get organized? Unpacking boxes and organizing things is a boring, time consuming thing…I personally hate it so I have a friend help. It makes time go by faster, makes the job easier, and I get some great input as to how to decorate. Plus it gives me somebody to talk to. Don’t forget to reward yourselves after with something fun.
I don’t have ADD, but hope this helps anyway.
Good luck!

1. Organize for reasons that matter to you. Don’t try to adopt someone else’s organizing values.
2. Determine the goal. First decide on the specific task you want to tackle. Then prioritize.
3. Notice how and where you work best. Let yourself work under whatever conditions are best for you.
4. One bite at a time! When you have a big job looming break the chore down into manageable “bites.”
5. Don’t rely on memory alone; you run the risk of letting tasks fall through the cracks. Use a notebook/planner to stay on track and keep it close by at all times.
6. Leave time between engagements to gather your thoughts.
7. Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) like Palm Pilots are a big help.
8. An answering machine is a great reminder tool. Do you have something important you have to do later in the day, or when you get home? Call your phone number and leave a reminder message.
9. Many people with ADD are visually oriented. Virtually anything can be made more memorable and attention-getting with color.
10. Don’t end the day without putting stuff away. Take time to put things back where they belong. It’s important to de-clutter your mind. Get plenty of rest; eat a healthy diet; exercise; relax; meditate. Learn to enjoy silence.

Go to your doctor tell them you have ADHD and theyll give you these magic pills. Theres adderall, vyvanse, ritalin, concerta, and others. The most common is adderall. Im prescribed adderall because I have bad ADHD too. I used to not be able to read, had a very hard time following conversations, I had a hard time following the teacher, and all of that stuff it does that makes you disorganized.
Once I got on the adderall, I was able to focus, be productive, organized, and my mood was always great. It really is great… I cant believe how much it has helped me. In the mean time, Ive noticed that caffiene helps me to focus for awhile. Also eating the right foods, getting enough sleep, and staying hyrdrated really help. Especially with ADHD, if you dont stay hyrdrated, and you dont eat food or get sleep, it will have a big impact on your ability to focus.
Seriosly though, I gaurantee you if you get adderall, or any other medicine, it will help you alot. Just make sure that while your on the medicines you still eat properly, stay hyrdrated, and get enough sleep, because ive noticed when I dont, and I take adderall, it doesnt work nearly as good as it should. Good luck.
