I have OCD but im not organized?

4

I realized recently I have OCD but it’s not very severe and I don’t find myself to be a very organized person. Whenever I get sometype of fastfood I always have to eat it in the same order I have to do everything the same. I can’t really get off topics when talking to people. I don’t get that anxious (sometimes I can) but me not being organized wouldn’t that mean I don’t have OCD?

I wouldn’t complain about not being totally OCD…lol. But if you’re wondering if your self-diagnosis is correct you should see a professional. No harm in it, and you matter ok. Good luck. Ciao!

I really don’t know much about OCD, but I understand that there’s a bunch of different types, severities, etc. Chances are you lucked out and got a manageable type.

Not at all, OCD is commonly thought to be only a disorder where you have to have everything in its place, in order, in a certain routine. Well, that is not true at all. That is the common characteristics of people with OCD but it does not apply to everyone with OCD. Have you heard of the new show Hoarders? They are definitely not organized or clean! And they have OCD. They are obsessive, the first word in the disorder. So even if you are not organized, you can still have obsessive compulsive disorder.

OCD or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder can manifest iteslf in many ways. It doesn’t always mean that you’re extremly organized or clean. Sometimes it involves having to turn a light on and off a certain number of times before leaving a room or repeat a phrase a certain number of times. My first quesiton would be how did you “realize” you had this disorder? Were you diagnosed or did you use the DSM IV to establish this theory? Just beacause you eat your food in the same order that doesn’t mean you have OCD, it could just be a habit of yours. People often create their own unique “rituals” when eating food so this may be what you’re doing as well. My advice would be to go see a professional psychiatrist/psychologist and get a propper diagnosis, this may be something completly different than what you’re thinking or it may be nothing at all and it’s always better to know what you’re dealing with.
