I need help with time management?
I am terrible with time management and getting motivated to do anything. Many people have hinted that I am ADD and that may be why I can never seem to complete task in a timely manner, if at all. But I am not really into taking meds for problems that aren’t life threatening so if anyone has any good tips on how to possible overcome this, please feel free to share
. Thanks

Not everyone who meets the criteria for ADD takes drugs to deal with it. There are cognitive strategies you can learn too. You might want to talk to a psychologist about it to find out whether you really have ADD and to get some ideas and support for dealing with your motivation problem. They generally won’t push drugs on you.
Sounds like you need to manage your time better!
I sympathise with you. I also believe that i’m in the wonderful club of the ADD (and most likely ADHD) world.
Dealing with your time managment problems, like with most other things – depending how you play it – can be an obstacle you can overcome.
I’m not too keen on the idea of taking medication to deal with problems, it could lead into taking meds for a whole lot of other things to answer your problems. If it doesnt sound like a good idea, then that means it aint likely to be one.
I found a link doing a search on Google, it seems like good advice: http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/diseases/facts/adhd.htm
I would consult your doctor before trying any techniques or medication that is suggested over the net, i wouldnt rely too dependently on online resources on significant matters, such as health.
Kregs,
Yours Truly.
you touched on two problems, “time management” and “motivation” and they are different one from the other, so I’ll try to address both for you.
Motivation is when you seen no end to the tunnel, no reason for doing something, you can’t see or plan ahead. Sometimes it could be age, and when you reach a certain age all of a sudden you’ve become enlightened. Otherwise if that’s not happening then you have to talk it out and then train yourself to look ahead in life, to plan ahead. It’s just like walking yourself thru a task…first you do this, then that, then this, etc. so that eventually the task is completed. Well in motivation you have to determine your goals (make a life plan) and then work toward them, and then once that plan has come to fruition, then you make a plan to move further and work toward it.
time management has to do with not being able to accomplish a task. It’s like if you have a bunch of papers on your desk that you have to do something with, you need to look at all the papers just once and then put them into three stacks: immediate, do later, and maybe never get around to because they aren’t important to my goal (or you’ll do them when you have nothing better to do). Usually people accomplish the immediate and do later jobs because that’s enough to fill a day, but other people spend their time chatting at the water fountain, on the phone yacking about nothing, etc. and those people get fired. After you’re fired a few times you’ll begin to realize that you’re not handling the important things and that will be your wake up call and you will fall into “time management” mode.
