No, not the same. Anyone can have a positive attitude, but only Christians have been given the measure of faith, according to Romans 12:3. Every man explained here are members of the church at Rome, and all Christians. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Hearing implies spiritual hearing, because everyone has ears, but not everyone hears the words of faith.
It depends on one’s cultural background, but for me this seems like a positive and useful way to conceive of faith. The Buddhist concept of Saddha is very similar. Faith as conviction and willingness to try, as opposed to the wholesale acceptance of things that part of one’s mind rejects.

If you adopt it as a way of life, it will bring constructive changes into your life, and makes them happier, brighter and more successful. With a positive attitude you see the bright side of life, become optimistic and expect the best to happen. It is certainly a state of mind that is well worth developing and strengthening.
