Comments on My Coach Wants Me To Set Goals But I Don’t Know What…?
This question is normal for coaches who want to find out more of what needs to be done to make the team better on the individual side of things.
He’s NOT looking for: I want to win every game, or the championship. We all want that.
He’s probably looking for something more like:
I want to get at least one hit every game.
I don’t want to make any errors for the season.
I want to lead the team in hits for the season.
I don’t want to walk any batters this season. (pitcher)
I want to lead the team in stolen bases.
I want to learn more about the game. (Advanced skills stuff)
I want to become a better Hitter /Fielder is a good answer if you need help in a certain area of your game.
Things like that.
Setting goals will help you get serious about becoming a better player for yourself and your teams benefit.
Think short term (Game) and then Long term (Season)
when answering the coach on this one.
Give him exactly that, your short term goals and your long term goals, he’ll probably say something like; Wow, here’s someone who really thought about it.
Thinking about your team first tells the coach that you want to help everyone and not just yourself.
But… improving yourself benefits the team as well. Kind of a double edge sword thing.
Good luck
i t dosent matter what he ment exactly ,what is important is that you set goals for your self and as you achive these goals you set higher standards for your self .a goal is only a point to look foward to ,achiving it is an accomplisment that will be with you forever ,a reminder of where you were and where you now are .coach whats hes calling what class jym soft ball get the picture its all about you and you goals there your future plans ,and how you achive them .you write a resume and send it out for certain jobs you will be applying for its the same with goals . set them make them and move on
If your in track, best time. If your in football, furthest throw. If your in swimming, best lap times…
u`r coach not said about the game he said about u`r life set an aim run awey towards it and try to catch it
