Self-improvement Vs Being ‘fake’…how Do You Tell The Difference?

Sometimes I wonder about people who call others fake. Is this out of jealous or as a way of tearing someone else down simply because they want to improve themselves. So…are people supposed to stay the same always (and remain unhappy) simply because change makes others uncomfortable?

I would say being “fake” would be changing yourself to be like others or to make them like you. Self-improvement would be improving yourself just for the sake of being a better person all around and not to impress certain people. I think self improvement probably becomes fake when you are doing it to mimic others.
