I’ve struggled to get two degrees, a management job on a six figure salary but it all means nothing to me. The stress of it all is just unbearable and I’m so unhappy, I sometimes just want everything to stop, me included. Has anyone gone from misery to happiness and found a way to find meaning in their lives again? Please help.

Just in case you are having a rough day, here is a stress management technique recommended in all the latest psychological tests.

The funny thing is that it works.

1. Picture yourself near a stream in the mountains.

2. Birds are softly chirping in the cool mountain air.

3. No one knows your secret place.

4. You are in total seclusion from the hectic place called the world.

5. The soothing sound of a gentle waterfall fills the air with a cascade of serenity.

6. The water is crystal clear.

7. You can easily make out the face of the person you are holding under the water.

See. You’re smiling already.

I have been in a few longterm relationships. Im currently in one now. It seems that in all of my relationships it has ended up like being friends or flat mates. Is this what happens in all relationships? So usually I end up getting bored and feeling the urge to go to pastures new. I would be interested also in seeing how other women deal with this. Do they move on? Or are they happy to stay in a relationship just like friends?

There are always those people who are just relentlessy cheery and optimistic. Their lives don’t seem all that different or better than anyone else’s except for their positive outlooks. It seems to me that is just their personality. I, on the other hand, have alway tended to be a “glass half empty” type of person, bordering on cynicism. Don’t get me wrong, this doesn’t mean I’m a whiny complainer type, I just tend to view things on the negative (I think realistic) side first. I really don’t have anything to complain about, I just think it is a part of my innate personality to be pessimistic.
Do you think that optimism can really be learned, or is it just something you are born with?
