I have a fear of intimacy perhaps because i m low on self esteem. My biggest fear that leads to my fear of intimacy is that i m afraid i wont be able to come up to the standards of my boy friend…i might end up doing something that will turn him off. Because of that i mostly remain reserved while talking to him…am not much responsive… which he might take as my rudeness or lack of etiquetts…i m afraid to express my feelings for him though i dearly love him! please help me overcome that… suggestions about any books or websites is welcomed.

I don’t have enough motivation to get my fat ass up and work out and I’m sick of it. I always tell myself I can start tomorrow but I end up telling myself that every day. Could this be a psycological problem? Why can’t I just get myself to workout?

I realize that my biggest weakness is time management. I have my own business. I am trying to launch an internet company. I eat poorly and inconsistently. I have a wife and two children. I often feel a complete sense of overwhelm where my day just turns into one big pot of gray, and many things never get fully completed they get to the point that they are tolerable and then I rush to the next fire and contain that one. I have tried using outlook to schedule things but I always seem to find a reason not to do what I have scheduled. I then rationalize why the activity that preempted my schedule was a priority. My coach says it is perfectly normal because I have not developed these disciplines or muscles and for 20 years I have believed that being in my own business or being my own boss gave me the privilege of not having to be accountable. Has anyone had success developing this practice? I feel if I can, it will unlock a treasure chest of rewards. Thanks

I feel so unmotivated when it comes to school. I feel a little ashamed because I go to a community college instead of a “real” college.

I’m in my second year, I enjoy going to school, but when I consider the stuff that I’m studying and who’s teaching it I start to lose interest and motivation.

Right now I’m liberal arts, I plan on doing one more semester here at Monroe Community College, the transferring to a 4 year to major in philosophy, then law school. I want to make it, I really do.

How did you overcome lack of motivation?

For whatever reason, I can never find the motivation to do necessary tasks, or complete any preset goals. On the other hand, whenever something trivial and unnecessary is presented, like extra credit at school, i’m very motived to complete it, no matter the difficulty or how long it would take, even if it’s more tedious than the homework itself. Why is that?

I need to be more active. By the way, it’s not my weight & body image that I’m worried about, it’s heart disease and other health problems. At first, I’m really motivated, but like a week later, I’m lazy to keep it up even though I know I need to. After a while of being inactive, the cycle starts again. I’m irresponsible & this cycle happens for other things like taking care of pets, or getting good grades. Yes, I’m a procrastinator. How do people have long-term motivation?

Getting organized can mean cleaning the house to rearranging papers in a file. Not many people enjoy doing boring jobs such as going through papers for hours at a time. Therefore, it is hard to get in the mind set to even get ourselves to do jobs like clean the house or shuffle through a few papers.
I believe that taking the time to organize can feel like it is a waste of time in our lives; that we could spend the time doing other things such as being with friends or playing with a pet. But it’s just getting past that barrier of thinking that would make getting organized easier.
Instead of thinking that it would be a waste of time, think about how great it would be if everything was neat and in perfect order- how easy it would be to find things that are needed instead of constantly shuffling through papers or rummaging in cupboards.
