I am by no means a bad person, I think really I’m more a diamond in the rough. I have an awesome perspective of the world, and I’m very optimistic, but I find myself having a hard time being consistant. What steps can I take to help me gain more self control? Husband is in Afghanistan for eight months so I think this would be a great time to work on my flaws!!

My girlfriend has a teaching job, teaching individual students English and Maths.
She has started teaching a 10-year-old girl who doesn’t seem to have much motivation and has a short attention span. She is slightly interested in English but the Maths is a no-go.
My girlfriend is trying to make it as fun as possible for her student, but has never encountered this before and is finding it frustrating.
She doesn’t want the girl to dread her forthcoming lessons.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I always hear you speak about “love your neighbor as yourself”. Nice message really. And some of you even succeed at it.
However, do you ever listen to those neighbors? When simply reading in this R&S section, I don’t get the feeling that many neighbors actually FEEL loved by Christians. And shouldn’t love be also about that: the perception of the receiver of that love.
Could it be that if many minority goups like homosexuals, atheists, Pagans don’t have the feeling that you actually love them, that maybe your message of love could use a little updating?
Or maybe you should set your goals a little lower. Loving all your neighbors is obviously not working out. Maybe starting off with “Try at least to like your neighbor” or “Try to understand your neighbor” would be a better start?
