His lying has really taken its toll on our relationship. We are really in love and have been dating over 3 years and we have both realized that he cannot stop lying on his own, so he would like to get help. I was looking in the phonebook under counseling and psychologists, but I noticed that all of them say their for things such as eating disorders, stress management, self esteem, etc. None of them said anything about help with lying. Can just any counselor/psychologist help him with his problem or will he have to see someone that specializes in helping compulsive liars?
I have certainly been suffering alot, but he really seems like he wants to change. He has admitted that he has a problem, which is the first step to stopping. I don’t want to leave him because I care about him alot

Save your money. Keep it simple. There are two things that anyone can do that work. First, begin to watch what you eat, keep it healthy and reasonable. Second, start to do something physical and exercise every day. What you decide to do has to be something you really like. Start by walking maybe, or running or riding a bike. If you stick to this every day, you will find that you start believing in yourself and have more confidence. You will experience control over yourself. You can’t be mad while you are running.
Whenever you sense you are becoming angry, change your thinking and do something different, like do the dishes, go for a drive, call a friend. We can’t change our feelings directly, but by doing something we divert our attention and the better feelings follow.

I do not know where hatfield herts is, but most domestic abuse facilities have a list of the available anger management programs. The reason for this is because a lot of the victims they work with have partners/spouses who need to go through anger management for their own good or because the courts have required them too. Contact a domestic abuse facility near hatfield herts they’ll direct you where you need to go.

It was this small paperback book regarding how to get anything you want in life. I think the title was something like..” How to get whatever you want” or ” The secret to getting anything you want in life”..anyway I really want to read it again. It basically said that as long as you were willing to do whatever it takes ( and I mean whatever it takes! ) you can reach your goal although, most times you didn’t need to do everything on that list. Is this ringing any bells with anyone? If so, please give me the title or author so I can get another copy. Thank you sooo much.

I think I have anger issues. Only with my spouse and only about once a month. Other than that I’m very patient and quiet and able to cooperate with him. I can talk to him about things that bother me but then suddenly I will lose it and even though I know how to fight fair I lose control of my emotions and get really mad and very mean to him. I feel ashamed after. I’m wondering if anyone has taken anger management courses or read any good books that helped them to deal with controlling their anger.
