Provide an example of an incident in your professional career or personal life that was a positive stressor (or eustress) for you (i.e. job promotion, buying a house, parenthood, etc.). What happened and why? What stress management techniques or strategies did you use to deal with the situation? Reflect on the situation. Based on what you know now (including information from this unit), what would you have done differently and why?

Secondly, consider a specific academic scenario that caused a lot of stress. Why was this event stressful for you as a learner?

As part of one of my classes, I have to interview someone already working in my chosen profession (psychology). The goal is to learn about what the work is really like and to help me choose courses and set goals wisely.
The only question I’ve committed to is “If I were to apply to work here today, what would you want to see on my résumé?”
Any other good ideas/suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

I’ve been playing many video games lately, and when I can’t beat something, or the game is “cheating” I violently cuss it out, and start slamming things. I have broken laptops, controllers, gaming systems, chairs, and so on.. I don’t want to get into professional help, but this needs to stop as I’m getting into a lot of trouble.. Help?

People with goals achieve more than those without goals. We can all think of examples of highly successful people such as a successful sports personality. Do you think that any of them have succeeded without a clear and specific goal of what they want to achieve?
People with goals are more likely to achieve their goals than those without clear goals. It seems obvious that if you know exactly what you want it is far easier to achieve it than if you are vague or ambiguous but the truth is even more pronounced than that. Think of all of the people that you know who would like to achieve something but their goals are not big or clear enough and thus they constantly end up failing?
If you have a clearly written and specific goal it is relatively easy to create a structured action plan to achieve it.
