I have had a negative attitude towards my self for as long as I can remember, even my grandmother commented about me being hard on myself at 3 years old. I dont want to accept that this is part of my personality, and I can’t change it. The attitude that I deserve punishment when I fail anyone’s expectations and that I expect to fail needs to stop. I don’t know where to start really, has anyone else dealt with the same thing or know how to become a more positive and self loving person?

Just in case you are having a rough day, here is a stress management technique recommended in all the latest psychological tests.
The funny thing is that it works.
1. Picture yourself near a stream in the mountains.
2. Birds are softly chirping in the cool mountain air.
3. No one knows your secret place.
4. You are in total seclusion from the hectic place called the world.
5. The soothing sound of a gentle waterfall fills the air with a cascade of serenity.
6. The water is crystal clear.
7. You can easily make out the face of the person you are holding under the water.
See. You’re smiling already.

Write down every single thing that you can imagine would be in your life if you were perfectly happy at this very moment. Imagine that you have NO limitations at all.
A few more questions-
In what situations in your life, and with whom, are you not perfectly happy?”
In looking over your life, where and when have you been the happiest? Where were you, with whom were you, and what were you doing?
These questions were published on the ‘net by Brian Tracy; they should make you think.
