lol what world are you living in?

Because here on Earth (mostly the United States), English and Math skills are at their lowest. The SAT scores have sunk to an all-time slow.

The average IQ of an American is 98, and people know more about Lindsay Lohans lesbian scandal than they do about the Geography 101.

Motivation comes from instant gratification – quick money, food, sex, sleep, love, whatever.

What motivates few people to do their best ?
Realization that the “moment” isn’t going to get them anywhere.
Maturity, understanding, commitment to family, children…
deals with someone (God, parents, children, self)…
but these instances are seldom.

All things considered, I think it is an intrinsically gratifying for people to perform at their best. Alfred Adler had a theory that humans inherently strive for superiority, and for the most part, I see validity in his theory. Success is a social construction that is interpretive as we create the parameters for what we define as successful. These goals are both internally and externally satisfying.

People want to be happy. That’s the “God” we all try to serve. Read Aristotle’s Ethics (not all of it, of course) just the first 5-10 pages. You’ll understand.
