What Are Some Good “anger Management” Techniques?

Remember that between stimulus and response is choice. Viktor Frankl, a holocaust survivor, realized this in the concentration camps of Germany when he realized he could react to the awful things going on either in a positive or negative way. If you get upset and throw a tantrum, just recognize that you are CHOOSING to do this.
Also, remember that others don’t make you mad, YOU make you mad. We get upset with others because of the story we tell ourselves as to WHY they are doing what they are doing. When my wife get’s a little upset with me, I have learned to ask myself, “Why is she speaking this way to me?” I can make up a MILLION different reasons as to why her demeanor is the way it is. If I tell myself the WORST story, that she hates me and is probably going to cheat on me, then I get upset and behave irrationally. If I tell myself a BETTER story, such as she is just concerned and wants to make our marriage better, that makes me feel RELIEVED!
Our anger stems from the stories we tell ourselves, and our stories contribute to how we choose to react.

if you have access to some snow, build a snow man and beat the bejeezes out of it with a wiffle bat. or save your old cell phones so you can throw them against a wall. you end up laughing your butt off.

There are probably allot but I would say, hitting an object like a pillow, something that will hurt no one. Be slow to anger. Anger is being out of touch with oneself. and is dangerous when left up to our emotions.
We need to think of something good and or about this person. Think of something else or just be patient. When doing anything out of anger only hurts you. When you are calm and sober this anger you felt will go away. And you will be glad you didn’t do or say something irrational or hurtful.

This works for me if I am angry at something someone has done or said.
1) If I can, I will try to talk to the person and calmly express my feelings of anger (or frustration). Sometimes the person is not the “type” of person that can talk calmly and usually makes things worse.
2) If I can’t talk to the person (whether they are not the “type” or conditions will not allow), I have a “imaginary conversation” with that person and express my anger.
3) If my anger is so “hot” and need to physically release some tension then I will do one of two things:
A) Have the “imaginary conversation” and “tell them how I feel”
B) Out back of my house I have an old tire on the ground. I also have a light-weight bat. I take the bat and relieve the physical frustration on the tire.
NOTE: If your anger is too hot, then find a way to release that anger by NOT hurting someone either physically OR emotionally. Only after you have released any hot anger should you face the person that help promote the feelings of anger. NEVER yell or hit anyone to release anger!!
Also, if you don’t release your anger in an appropriate way you will usually end up releasing it in a passive aggressive way.
