The best thing you can do it to push your negative thoughts away when you find yourself dwelling in the “Land of Put-downs.” It’s not easy but you can train yourself pretty easily to think about a great movie you loved or your last romantic date or fun time with friends or family. Just refuse to let your mind wander in a field of dead flowers—focus on a positive and don’t allow anything less.
At the same time, take heart in the fact that you’re working actively with a counselor’s assistance—so you’re not coasting at all—you’re taking positive action. That’s a huge step forward when dealing with self esteem issues.
Problems won’t disappear over night but they do have a lesser hold on us when we take control of our lives and insist on managing our emotional health. This is something you’re already starting to do. Success will depend entirely upon your determination.

The biggest question to answer here, is to give definition to what self-esteem is. Is it a pre-occupation with the physical form, the materialistic…or is self-esteem something that comes form within, a confidence on the ‘form-less’ such as the soul.
I do not concern myself so much with being confident about what people see with their eyes…I was once a chuby kid without self-esteem, picked on and defenseless for my wieght…I battled my way for years to become a perfect bodied person, and achieved that goal. What I noticed that though I gained some sort of confidence from it, It was all confidence baed on ‘form’.
What I didnt realize is that, true beauty comes from within…and I was very pretty on the inside.
Now, its almost taken me more time than it took to loose the wieght, but I have found the secret to self confidence..and that is to pure my mind and become at peace with my body, life, and the irrelevance to what I look like compared to what I think and what I do.
When all that you think and do is for the betterment of the world and to those around you, then you will have the confidence and self-esteem that not 100 supermodels and Hollywood stars have. Your feet are unshakibly stable.
Good luck on your journey

Hi,
In my experience, I would say 3 things are important:
1) Have a support network of some kind – people who will be your cheerleaders. If your parents are out of the question or you don’t have a few good friends to turn to, get a therapist. It sounds like you already have that, so kudos!
2) Next try some new activities you’re interested in. Ideally, something to take you out of your current comfort zone. A sport? A martial art? Painting? Just start small. Growth occurs in baby steps, not leaps and bounds.
3) If you fall down, get back up and try again. An instructor once told me, “fall down twice, get up 3 times”. That advice has served me well.
And remember, as a little kid Michael Phelps was afraid of the water, so the first stroke he mastered was the backstroke. But with the right attitude, training, and support now look at him.
Good luck!

to make things short
1. remember everyone is different and everyone has flaws
2. have that one person that you can talk to
3. have a hobbie to take things of your mind
