What are steps I can take to stop having a self defeatist attitude?
I have had a negative attitude towards my self for as long as I can remember, even my grandmother commented about me being hard on myself at 3 years old. I dont want to accept that this is part of my personality, and I can’t change it. The attitude that I deserve punishment when I fail anyone’s expectations and that I expect to fail needs to stop. I don’t know where to start really, has anyone else dealt with the same thing or know how to become a more positive and self loving person?

Embrace the fact that all humans are imperfect.
Love yourself for who you are. We can never be absolutely flawless. You are respected for merely being yourself.
Treat a failure as a learning experience for the future and the preparation for the rigorous fates life has to offer. Everyone is a winner if they have at least attempted to try.
You should read the book below. It explains temperament theory in a very easy to read way.
According to this author, you are the “Perfect Woman.” You need to learn how to deal with your sensitivities and accept yourself, imperfections and all. No one is perfect. No one can ever be perfect. We can strive to do things excellently and the best we can, but you will never be perfect. The more you try, the more you will drive others around you nuts and probably drive people away.
The Lord gifts us all differently. I would pray and ask God for direction. Then I would read the following books:
A Woman’s Guide to the Temperaments by Donna Partow.
What Type Am I? by Renee Baron.
Blessings on you as you try to figure this out.
